A.I. Friends?

The new thing I guess is to have artificial intelligence friends. You pick one, make up a back story on their supposed lives and you can converse with them daily online. But what for? Sometimes the A.I. friend will make up stories about their friendship or about things that have happened between them. This is called "hallucination". They don't play games very well. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and others that already have big social media platforms have already started with such apps in their apps. There is even "erotic roleplay". Isn't this A.I. thing getting rather weird? I'll stick with my real friends and my great online friends.

That is an odd use of the ai technology. I've not heard of that and won't check it out.

It seems to me like a waste of time. Building a friendship with something that isn't even real.

@celticeagle I agree. It sounds like they've not left childhood as it's when kids are very young that some will make up playmates and friends. I had enough siblings to be with. I didn't even know that was a thing until I was older.

I am not against new technology, but I think we are going too far.

Yes, we can enjoy a lot of new technology but, I think we need to watch for being too extreme.

@celticeagle The new technology is very good, but we can also keep our traditions.

That does sound weird and I doubt I would ever become friends with an A.I.

It's nothing more than an author creating characters and writing a book. They only make it more real.

Yes, that's true. I can see it if the world was coming to an end and you were last person on Earth.

In some things AI can be helpful but we need real people as friends. Or even if we have online friends, that real people are the online friends.

Yes, realism is needed. What a waste of time.

This is very interesting and weird too. I think a real person can't be replaced.

I agree. It takes a while to develop a friendship whether online or other wise. Why waste your time with an AI when you could be developing a real friendship with a real person? Life is too short!
