Updated Bucket List

United Kingdom

I wrote something a few years ago about bucket lists (link to original discussion above). As I was reading, I realised that I have done more things that were on my list. I have travelled by helicopter, I joined an archery club (although didn't renew membership after the first year), and tried scuba diving. I also did an indoor skydive. These are all things I've done in the past 4 or 5 years. There are other things I've added to my list, including a visit to Germany for Oktoberfest. We're thinking about doing that next year as we already have a holiday booked for this year. That holiday happens to also be to Germany. We were looking at France but, with the addition of the Olympics at the time we wanted to go, it was really expensive. Instead, we're going on an all-inclusive coach trip to Germany, which will also include a stay in Belgium. I'm not looking forward to the travel as I can barely look at a coach without feeling ill I am, however, looking forward to visiting castles. Have you ticked off any bucket list things? Have you done anything you hadn't expected? Have you made/added to a bucket list?
A discussion by @moffittjc about a postponed skydive inspire me to post this. You can see Jeff's discussion...

I can't travel anymore except for 2-3 day trips so many of my travel bucket list items are unobtainable. I hope you get to do everything on your list. Have a good week.

Do have any bucket list items that you may still be able to do? Perhaps that don't involve travelling?

@pumpkinjam I got to hand feed a giraffe which was on my bucket list; but I didn't pet it. I'd like to get a chance to feed one again and feel it's head and neck. Have a good day.

@LindaOHio that sounds lovely. Giraffes are my eldest granddaughter's favourite animal. I've never fed one myself. I've fed various farm animals as well as kangaroos, capybara, and other things. I also recently fed armadillos, which was a novel and interesting experience.

I don't think I really have a specific 'bucket list'. I've done a lot of things I wanted to do - I used to do archery too, I've never flown in a helicopter but I have flown in a balloon, a glider and I learned to fly a small plane. Scuba diving was a massive part of my life for 15 years (and I still hope it will be again). I've ridden horses, bicycles, motorbikes, driven cars and vans and trucks, piloted motor boats and narrow boats, leaned to sail and paddle board and kayak. More travel is the thing I really want to do, but I've stopped thinking of specific destinations because it seems like a curse - as soon as I think I want to visit a specific country it descends into civil war. In the past I have said I would like to visit Yemen and Syria and Afghanistan - that hasn't ended well. I would like to visit China and Japan as well as south America and I've never been to anywhere in Africa either except Egypt which doesn't really count!

I would love to go in a hot air balloon. My dad and I were supposed to do that years ago but it got cancelled due to the weather. We could have rearranged the date but we'd had to travel and stay over, and we couldn't do it again. My mum had won the balloon ride (she doesn't like heights) so she sold it and, I think, recouped the money that had been spent on accommodation! I've never ridden or horse, although my two sons did ride when they were little. They were both quite good at it but decided to pursue other interests when we had to cut down on some things. I've never even sat on a motorbike, although I've always like them! And Japan is also on my bucket list. You've done a lot of fun things, and I hope you can get back to other things you enjoy.

@pumpkinjam If it's any consolation, a hot air balloon ride is actually quite boring after the first few minutes. I started writing a long reply but then I thought I might as well turn it into a post!
