The apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Fatima in 1917 are a significant event in Catholic history, involving three young shepherd children—Lucia Santos and her cousins, Francisco and Jacinta Marto. These apparitions, along with the ascension of Jesus into heaven, remind us of the transient nature of life on earth and our ultimate home with God the Father Creator. The Virgin Mary appeared to the children in the Cova da Iria fields near Fatima, Portugal, six times between May 13 and October 13, 1917. During these apparitions, she urged them to pray the rosary for peace and to make sacrifices for the conversion of sinners. She also revealed three secrets, including a vision of hell. The story of Fatima, with its message of peace and purity, has been an inspiration for millions of believers worldwide. The apparitions at Fatima, coupled with the ascension of Jesus, underscore the importance of faith, prayer, and devotion in the lives of believers. Mary's example of listening to God's word and fulfilling His will serves as a model for all Christians. As we strive to follow Mary's example, let us also seek her intercession to help us draw closer to Jesus and fulfill God's plan for our lives.

Some people say that only Jesus and God are important. But Mary is important too.

I read and re-read the Fatima story. I feel there is still something I need to grasp. One thing is sure the divine mother cares deeply for her children on earth.
