Have you ever been offered money to change your review?

I guess some sites can just delete bad reviews, but some places like Amazon supposedly don’t do that. Plus, they tell you if someone offers you money to change your review to report them. If you take the money you’ll be banned from leaving more reviews, and the seller gets in serious trouble. I was offered $50 to change a review once, but my brother-in-law was offered more than that a couple years ago (we both declined). I was wondering if anyone ever offered you money to change a review (on any site)?

Well sort of, I did a negative review on a restaurant and they contacted me and asked me to give them a second chance. I told them if they sent me a 20.00 gift card, I would be glad to go back and take another look. I did, and luckily for them it was better the second time.

That’s cool. I like it when restaurants take the initiative like that. Sometimes I feel bad when it’s a small business on Amazon I have to give the bad review to, but I think I’m pretty fair overall.

No, I was never offered money to change a review but I rarely leave reviews and the ones I do are good ones.

I don’t think I left but one bad review ever until I joined Amazon Vine. They drill it in your head if a product is bad, don’t hold back. I’d say out of 200 reviews, I’ve done 3 bad ones, and of those 3, two have been awful. And oh my word, if I told you about those…one literally shocked my body. But I do enjoy writing the good reviews, especially for small businesses. The small business have great products because they aren’t resting on their laurels.

@AmbiePam I haven't joined Amazon vine .The items I've purchased have been good and with their good return policies I haven't had to leave a bad review.

@Marilynda1225 With Vine, it’s free, so there is nothing to return. I’ve definitely gotten my money back on returned items, but those have been things I’ve bought from Amazon, apart from Vine. This is free stuff, so there is no money to get back. But I’m glad you’ve encountered good return policies. It’s so discouraging when you’re stuck with something you can’t return. Do you have a favorite store, or is it Amazon?

I seldom leave a review. I would not take money to change it, though.

Me neither; I wouldn’t want to be a sellout.

We haven't had this happen but we always take reviews with a grain of salt especially reviews of restaurants and hotels.

I don't do reviews. Interesting that that can happen. Now I'm more skeptical than before.

Going by the response here, it isn’t that common.

I wasn't offered money but I was encouraged to post a good review by the vendor that provided the item. Have a good day.

No money to change my review on shampoo but the site asked if I could give a good review.

I have never been contacted to change a negative review, but for sure if I was convinced that the place was not good I would have not changed my mind.
