Off to Chicago for the weekend.

I'll be heading to Chicago this weekend. It's a High School reunion, but I'm really focused on getting a corned beef sandwich at Morrie's Deli on 57the Street on the South Side, where I grew up.
It will be interesting to see whether I can express myself freely when I'm there. I think most of my old classmates are a bit more "Liberal" than I am. Yes, I have spent my life working in "social services," but "the world of hard knocks" has rendered me more of a realist and less of an idealist.
Will I have to bite my tongue at times? My buddy Allen (he's a lawyer) and I have been in close email and telephone contact over the past few years. He even visited me and my horse about ten years ago. He and I are pretty honest when we talk. He warned me to be circumspect at first. Heh.
Have you ever met up with old friends and had to bite your tongue at times? We shall see. If you had to predict, do you think I'll "be a good boy"? Or will my "true thoughts" emerge after a few beers and other enhancements?
Please watch the news to make sure there are no plane crashes this weekend. Being out of control in an aluminum tube at 36,000 feet with someone else driving is kind of scary to me, though I actually enjoy flying.

One thing that Chicago isn't lacking for, is excellent food! My sister lived in Chicago(Lombard) and traveled to the downtown area on a train, to her office job. It's a world that I never knew before, growing up in a small town. Have fun at your high school reunion! At my class reunion, many staggered around in a drunken stupor. I was very glad to leave and go home. A couple of the ladies were very sweet to me, ones who acted human even in high school!
I have flown a few times and I enjoy flying.

@kobesbuddy It's difficult to know what the dynamics are in other couples.

@TheHorse Some of the couples went through high school together and then, got married. A few of them have divorce, this shocked me! In high school they appeared to be "Ken and Barbie!" This made me sad!

The only friends that I knew of in high school have moved to other cities and states. Enjoy your time in Chicago.

My reunion last fall was excellent. I had attended two other ones. I really didn't want to go to that one, because the two I attended were ''cliqu-ey'' and it was weird how the groups stuck together. Yes, I was popular in my heyday, but I was also friends with many others in many groups--I didn't care about popularity. Guess what? That all appears to be over, now. People came together and chatted, there was some drinking of course but no one drank to excess, which was a miracle! I actually did have the best time. Hopefully, you will as well.
Like many people, I have flown all my life and never really gave it a lot of thought. But the last year or two, the plane safety thing is concerning, I know. Hopefully they will get their acts together and do some better maintenance. Be good, have fun, give us a recap when you get back. Oh, and wave if you fly over me!

I found it ironic that the girl who was homecoming queen one year and prom queen the next year, now weighs about 350# and swears all the time...and the little wispy girl in my College Prep English class who was too shy to give an oral report and cried back then, is now head of a huge corporation. Time...it does strange things.

You'll be really close to America. Some people even consider Chicago an American city.

@TheHorse It's a relatively short drive. 300 miles and 300 years back in time.

The corned beef sandwich sounds like a good enough incentive for me! I think you'll be more free with your ideas after a few drinks. Good luck and safe travels.

@TheHorse You're welcome. My husband bought me a pound of corned beef for my birthday from a real deli. It was very expensive.
