Last Saturday we went to our relative in Pangasinan, a province in Northern Luzon Philippines. We traveled almost 4 hours from Manila to Pangasinan. When we arrived there, these mangoes on the table in their balcon caught my attention as the car was about to park in front of their house.
" Wow! timing that they harvested the mango and surely we can take kilos of mangoes when we go back home" that's how my mind thinking on that moment
We stayed there for 2 days. When day came for us to leave, my relative handed a plastic bag and told us to take some mangoes and take it home . "This is it! I thought we're gonna leave empty handed" that's how my mind thinking on that moment .
Since the plastic bag she gave is large, I brought more or less 10 kilos of mangoes. Their mango is very sweet when its ripe, unlike other mangoes taste sour even if its ripe. I guess these green mangoes will be ripe in 1 week. In the market when you buy ripe mango it cost 120.00 Pesos ( 2$) per kilo.
I will make ice cream mango, Mango Buco Pandan salad, and mango float when these mangoes are ripe. .
What other mango dessert can you suggest ?

Ripe mango is very sweet and delicious specially like this kind of mango in the photo... there are different kinds of mango, some only taste good when unripe, like for example the Indian mango and apple mango.. Indin mango is small in size while apple mango is big, these two kinds of mango taste good only if unripe.

The mango season is coming. Your mangoes look so big Mangoes seem to grow well here. And some roads of my city will grow mango trees. I often see the mangoes in summer in these trees, but these are for decoration and nobody will pick these mangoes. But they still look great anyway.

@zoe316 I don't really know why here some mango trees are for decoration, it is reasonable that it is not very tasteful as well as the mangoes from the stores. I guess the mango trees are easy to grow, they can be tall and big and full of leaves. So it's OK to grow them as the decoration.

Why for decoration only? Maybe it's different kind of mango that's why people not interested to pick and eat it.. just like here in the Phikippines, there are many kinds of mango, we.call it Indian Mango, Carabao mango, apple.mango, and these kind of mangoes is not really delicious and not export quality. These mangoes in the photo are the native mango here in the Philippines, this is our national fruit. It taste sweet and juicy if its ripe..Some people love to eat green mango. Me, I prepare to eat ripe...

Your trip to Pangasinan sounds like a delightful mango-filled adventure! It's wonderful that your relatives shared their bounty with you, and bringing home 10 kilos of sweet mangoes is definitely a treat.
With such an abundance of mangoes, you have plenty of options for delicious desserts beyond the classic mango float and Mango Buco Pandan salad. Here are a few suggestions:
Mango Sticky Rice: A popular Thai dessert that pairs sweet, ripe mangoes with sticky coconut rice. It's creamy, sweet, and oh-so-satisfying.
Mango Sorbet: A refreshing and light option for those hot summer days. Blend ripe mangoes with a bit of sugar and lemon juice, freeze, and enjoy!
Mango Cheesecake: Add a tropical twist to a classic dessert by incorporating fresh mango puree into a creamy cheesecake filling. It's a guaranteed crowd-pleaser.
Mango Cobbler: Similar to a peach cobbler, but with the sweet and tangy flavor of mangoes. Top it with a buttery crumble topping for the perfect finishing touch.
Mango Tiramisu: Put a fruity spin on this Italian favorite by layering ripe mango slices with creamy mascarpone cheese and ladyfinger biscuits soaked in mango juice.
No matter which dessert you choose, those ripe mangoes are sure to shine. Enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and savoring the delicious flavors of summer!
