50-Year-Old Songs: Some Kind of Wonderful

The PGA Championship is underway. Unlike the Derby, that’s waaaaayyyyyy the heck on the other side of town from me. I’m still going out of town, though, but just up to northern Kentucky to say hi to the putters this weekend. Meanwhile, we can groove with another song that is now 50 years old!
Some Kind of Wonderful - Grand Funk
If you’ve got funk in your name you’d BETTER show some soul! 
And here they….don’t. 
Again, I have to throw the asterisk out there: this particular recording is the one that dates to 1974. The first version of this was by the Soul Brothers Six in 1967.
Grand Funk (derailing the Railroad part of their name with this album) didn’t exactly do a James Brown impersonation on their rendition, but there’s still some soul in their version.
Their follow-up single will be along on next year’s 50-year-old list. 
Meanwhile, enjoy this great tune.

No, because technically, it was a hit in 1975. 
But at least you know it’ll be along next May…and quite high on the list, I might add!
