What goes up must come down they say. That phrase got me to thinking about a series on my favorite "Up and Down" songs. So, let's see "WHAT'S UP" with these musical gems I've selected for you today...
Your comments, musings, and your own favorite "Up or Down" titled songs or music trivia always welcome...
NEVER GONNA GIVE YOU UP- RICK ASTLEY (1987)
-This was such a huge hit song, #1 for Astley, even I liked the upbeat sound of this tune. And also, the optimistic message of never giving up on the girl. Astley's tunes frequently charted in the UK: his first eight UK singles were all Top 10 hits. "Never Gonna Give You Up," achieved worldwide success; it ranked at the top of 25 charts all over the world from Belgium to Australia including the US. Now that's one "bang up" job!!!
***Are you familiar with this song? Is it a "Thumbs Up"
TRIVIA CHALLENGE
***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues!
1. This "doo-wop pop artist" was not "LAUGHING IN THE RAIN" when he sang this #1 charting "BREAKUP SONG" in 1962. This tune definitely struck a chord with teenagers everywhere. Released just before the July 4th weekend many teens called into their radio stations requesting this song from their holiday beach locations. Lots of "young lovers" could relate to this song's title claiming how "HARD" ending a romantic relationship can be. Prior to this hit the artist had another popular song with "CALENDAR GIRL."
-Do you know the name of this artist and his "UP Titled" song?
2. This British band was formed in 1969. It was named after their founding member keyboardist Rod Argent. This song uses a "BODY PART" as part of the title with the word "UP." A phrase meaning when you want to "show you're not ashamed of something" and have self-pride you will "KEEP THAT BODY PART UP" not let it hang down.
-Can you name the "UP Titled" song by the British band Argent?
3. (Bonus) Rod Argent's "PREVIOUS BAND" had chart hits with "SHE'S NOT THERE" and "TIME OF THE SEASON." The group's name is the same as those "WALKING DEAD" CREATURES on that TV series where the world experiences a "__________" APOCALYPSE. If you fill in the blank correctly you've got the answer, lol.
-Do you know the name of this band?
Don't get "all shook up" trying to figure out the songs and artists. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as the Little River Band would say, "Help is on the Way."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition in the near future. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned...

1. You know, Neil Sedaka was my first non-country music concert. I saw him back in 2015, and he did BOTH versions of “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do”: the 1962 upbeat version, and for the encore, the slower 1976 ballad version! (Or as the chimpanzee called it on Night Court, break-up-hard-voodoo. )
2. If I hold your head up somebody might call the cops and charge me with assault!
3. Yeah, but those Zombies ate great music, not brains!

@dgobucks226 — absolutely! I really loved the 2015 show more, I think because I had the years and the knowledge to respect his career more.

Well, you "blew up" a couple of those trivia questions!
#2- Another word for your "noggin" is ______. When you're feeling down on yourself, someone might say "________ Your _______ Up." Put those 2 together in the right order for the answer...
"She's not There" is a great tune along with "Time of the Season."
Enjoy...
