Florida thunderstorm this afternoon.

The rain I had hoped we'd get last night or early this morning has arrived. I was just out doing our bedding (which I'd forgotten to do yesterday,) when the rain started. George wanted to sit and watch the world from our drivway and asked me to turn on the radio. And, the national weather service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for our area. Typical spring/summer weather. So far, George is staying dry, but it's good to see him doing new and different things. The stroke has made him a bit depressed, but I'm sure he'll bounce back. I could've lost him at least three times during that first hospital stay. He made it and is back at home. I'm thankful everyday for that.

It sounds like you're navigating through a rainy day with a mix of chores, caring for George, and keeping an eye on the weather. It's heartening to hear that George is finding moments of enjoyment, like watching the world from the driveway and listening to the radio, despite the challenges he's facing after his stroke. Your attentiveness to his well-being and your gratitude for his recovery shine through in your words.

I just have to keep him encouraged. Which I'll admit, isn't always easy. However, if I don't I don't know who will. We have each other and I think it helps that he's largely independant.

I understand that your husband can feel a bit depressed, but I hope he can feel better as the days go.

He has good and bad days. I think a lot of it has to do with the toll that the recovery process can have on a person.

@LadyDuck While age can play a factor as well as pre-existing underlying conditions, recovery is up to the patient. Their will to recover tends to play a huge role in how well they do.

@kaylachan I imagine that it's really hard to recover after a stroke. My Mom was too old and she never recovered.

How nice! I wish we would get some thunder, lightning, and a good downpour. It is very calm outside right now and 71 degrees. You two have been through a lot in the last few months.

I understand that George can feel down because he’s not able to do what he used to. You’re a rock for him! I watched that thunderstorm from one of the beach cameras. Pretty intense. I was laughing at the people still on the beach as it rolled in, waiting almost until the last second to get to shelter.

That's the natives vs the tourists. Natives know when it's time to flea, where as tourists run at the first drop of rain.

@kaylachan — I went through boot camp in Orlando. They made us go inside when there was lightning in the area. It’s a good practice that I adhere to today. When that bolt hit out on the water, or if I heard thunder, it’s “see ya later, alligator [and beach]!”

He has come a long way, and neither you nor him have given up, you keep striving. It's good that he wants to be outside and do things, too.

Glad George shows interest in different things, I had the usual running marathon here when the thunderstorm started and for about an hour it looked like there were not cats here, Now they have emerged to get some food, I sure hope we get some sunshine tomorrow, Kind of gloomy with all that gray, I hope you all have a good evening,

I see a lot of sun, I don't think that'll be a problem.
