I spoke with the Ombudsman on FRIDAY and lo and behold at 9 am on SATURDAY morning, the woman called from the Business Office. She said, "I'm returning your call." I said that I had called 1/2 dozen times. She claims her son was in an auto accident. I know for a fact that she was in the office the days that I called. I feel bad if the story is real; but I have my doubts. Anyhow, she gave me some dates...I told her I would check again with the insurance company to see if they had processed anything else because all I show processed that we owe is ***$120***, not $1,218.. I checked and there have been no other claims processed. So I will be calling her again on Monday.
Spoke with hubs last night. He's doing OK. I'm going to look into long term care for him with the insurance company. That is the determination they have made for him. If long term care coverage is a possibility and if they give PT every day, maybe that's what we'll do for the 2 or 3 weeks he has left to do. We don't have long term care insurance; but maybe the insurance company has it available for the short term.
Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts.

Yay! Helps to have friends in high places. Progress at last. I hope before he comes home permanently he gets the chance to do a home visit..so you both can see how things go and whether it will work.

Most long term health facilities have a physical therapist who works with patients. He would probably get better care in there and his call light answered in a much more timely manner! If you are on self pay at this point, long term care is probably less money than what you are paying now. Just thoughts here…

Now that they know about the Ombudsman, they may be more accommodating.

See, you’re nice. She calls me and says, “I’m returning your call,” and I would have gone, “Really? Which particular call are you returning?” ![](/Content/images/emotes/angry.gif)

@LindaOHio — I’m sorry she’s having a family crisis; however, every company should have a backup. ESPECIALLY with a position like ombudsman or patient advocate.

@FourWalls She was in the office on all the days I called because the receptionist told me she was.

That's basically what I said. Then she hits me with the son's accident which, I'm sorry to say, I don't believe.

Maybe the bill was for $1218 and most was covered by the insurance and you only owe $120?

@lovebuglena The woman from the Business Office called the Billing Department. They can't tell her what the charges were for. Can you believe that? So she told them to refund the money to us!

I'm sorry to hear you're in a position to need to find long term care for your husband. It's hard when our spouses aren't doing well. I will have you in my thoughts and prayers that you are able to get him where he needs to be.

Long term care may be just what gets him progressing again; I hope it can happen if that is a what would be best for him. I would imagine that lady is lying too, but like you, on the off chance I would be wrong, I’d feel terrible if I pushed back and she was telling the truth.

I'll sure pray that works out well and that your insurance will pay for short term care.

Will you go for long term care instead of having him returning home? In any case, I hope something works out for you.

It depends on if insurance will cover any of it.
