The Tick Story

Oh, ugh! Just remembering back to this day after @GardenGerty's story makes me shake all over. (I also got ringworm once from holding a chicken.) But, I was wandering around my grandparent's place and got a tick. It was only about 5 or 6 I think. Maybe younger even. The tick was stuck on the inside of my thigh. Each of the adults involved seemed to have a different idea to get rid of the thing but, Grandma won out as she usually did. They poured the turpentine all over and it ran up too high getting into my private area. IT BURNED SO BAD I CRIED!! I will never forget that occurrence in all of my life. I was sure thankful to be rid of the tick though.

Yea, they use lots of "methods" not all of them safe. Both ticks I have had this week have not been fully attached. I pulled them off. Probably not the best thing. I got ringworm once from sitting in the grass in a park that had lots of goose poop.

@celticeagle Yeah, that is where the parasite was living, I guess.

They all thought their idea was best. I paid the price.

@celticeagle There is only one safe method to remove a tick. Grasp the tick as close to the skin as possible with a pair of tweezers and pull firmly outward. I have removed several attached to the neck of my cat.

That's a bad tick story. I would have been freaking out. I had a tick quite a few years ago. It attached itself on the inside of my arm near the elbow. My husband got it off and put it in a jar. I was freaking out "Get it off! Get it off!". I hate them. Have a good day.

I don't think I've ever heard a 'good' tick story. They are ugly little mites.

@celticeagle I've had fleas try to dig into my arms too. I used to get the brush from a bottle of correction fluid and cover them with it.

Nice to be rid of it but not nice the way it was removed.

Poor you. I hope an adult comforted you. When I was a kid in high school my very long furred dog got ticks.....heck on wheels finding them. My Mom took a match to the ticks- I think the dog had one on his nose. I can't remember how we got that one.
