Update on the Teenage Dieffenbachia Plant

Last night was eventful. I had been sleeping maybe 2 hours, if that, when I heard a very watery crash. The big flower vase that I have the top parts of the dieffenbachia plant my friend gave me in had tipped over and spilled over some items. Luckily it did not appear to get water in the drawers on the Sterilite drawer sets I had the vase sitting on. So, very sleepily I moved everything, moved the vase to a most stable location, or so I though, on a chair next to the drawers. I dried what I could and moved everything around so whatever got wet could get dry. Then, since I was wide awake by that time, I watched some tv for awhile and ended up having a snack. Finally, I got back to sleep about 3 hours later. For a few minutes. For some reason, the chair was not as stable as I thought it would be and the vase tipped over again. This time I was awakened to what sounded like shattering glass and water spilling. But that did not happen. The vase had tipped against the back of the chair, hitting against the metal frame. It only spilled slightly, but I still had more water to clean up and had to move the vase yet again. By that time, it was not far from daylight, and I thought I would just stay wake for another hour and then take DaisyMae outside, come back in and catch a couple hours nap before I was expecting someone to arrive. But I dozed off only to decide to just sleep until that person came. It was then about 6:30. At about 7:45 she called asking if she could come early and could be here in about 20 minutes. I said yes since I was awakened yet again. I took DaisyMae outside and met her coming inside. We got things done we had to do and once she left about 3 hours later, I finally got to sleep awhile. I slept about 4 hours and got awakened by the phone. Since then, I have stayed awake. Supper has been cooking in the crock pot all day and will be done in another hour or so. I am not guaranteeing I will be able to stay awake much longer after that. But if I do fall asleep, it has to be a short nap, or I will wake up and be up all night again. I have to manage to stay awake until at least midnight or I end up waking up in just an hour or two unable to get back to sleep for hours. My old age sleep cycle is really wacky. When I was younger, I could not wait until I was retired and able to sleep whenever I wanted to. What a joke that was. LOL

Sometimes it seems your sleep is forever disturbed one way or another.

How funny that you said that about retirement. One of the things I was looking forward to was napping whenever I wanted to and sleeping as long as I wanted to. Ha! I have been unable to nap or sleep longer than 2 hours at a time. What a disappointment that is! Have a good day and long weekend.
