Hummingbird Visit

We had a rather weird occurrence yesterday. My daughter and I were in my room watching TV when a hummingbird started flying around the windows. It did so for a few moments and then left. We don't usually see hummingbirds around here. Or we haven't any way in several seasons. A few minutes later it came back flittering around the window for quite a while. Frantically like it wanted in or to tell us something. Then it went away again.
I had a feeling it was sent by a passed relative to tell us something. It is just my spiritual way to always think butterflies or other beings are a spirits from the other side trying to tell us something. I began doing some research to see if hummingbirds are used in this way. I found nothing but I did find some interesting information about these little creatures.
There are 361 species of this bird and 113 genera. Fifteen types live in the United States. Some species are extinct such as Gould's emerald and Brace's emerald. Only 12-15 species migrate. The smallest breed is the Bee hummingbird.
Here are some of the myths I found:
Hummingbirds have been associated with royalty and warriors in ancient Mexico.
Their nectar should be red.
They mate in mid-air.
That they have tongues.
Bees and hummingbirds get along.
They migrate on the backs of Canadian geese.
They die when they stop flying.
They will abandon their young if they are touched by a human.
Feeders that are red with yellow flowers attract hummingbirds.
So, unless one of our relatives really got a bee in there passed over the bonnet and felt an extreme need to contact us I guess we just had a visitation from one that has come to our area. I was hoping that it was Grandma or perhaps my Mom. But then who's to say it wasn't?
The picture is from Shutterbug.

They are so busy I can see why the myth was hatched.

I love hummingbirds. We had a butterfly bush planted that we hope attracts some hummingbirds. Interesting myths. Have a good day and great long weekend.

A few years ago, I opened the back door to go to the patio, and a hummingbird zoomed in. The door was only opened for a few seconds! I didn't have a feeder out there, but my neighbor on either side did. I had flowers they loved instead. I thought we weren't going to get it back outside, but we did. It went to the living room and sat on the top of the curtain rod, and stayed there, so we caught it and released it outside.

I've never had one come in or try to. I kind of got the impression it was trying to get in through the window.

My daughter had one get in her car once when she left the window down a bit. We opened all the doors and it finally got the hint and flew out.

@celticeagle - There is a lovely red robin that comes to our garden to spend the winter. The little bird often stops on the kitchen outside windowsill and looks inside.
