My son's car was vandalized.

For a short time, he hasn't been driving it until earlier this week, due to his health issues. He has been in it and gone to pick up his local meds, etc. yesterday. It was fine then. He was here with me today, and later we went to his little apartment to pick up some things for him. We discovered someone tried to pry off all 4 of his tire rims, and stabbed 3 out of 4 of his tires, so they are ruined. I can only hope that State Farm will pay for vandalism...he has full coverage on the car. But still...people steal anything and everything now! It's so ridiculous. He parks under a big light. He keeps the car locked. But it got vandalized all the same...he didn't need this. He has tried so hard to feel better, to move forward, to make progress. Why this had to happen to add to his woes, I don't understand. He is a good man. He tries so hard...I am just rather angry at whoever messed with his car. There are no cameras where he parks. I thought about screaming, but it will do no good. A thief is a thief is a thief...and there are a lot of them out there, it seems. pixabay, I couldn't get a very good picture of his tires/rims in the dark.

That is just so, so wrong. It's the very last thing he or you needs. It's just awful. I'd be wanting to scream too. Life is so unfair sometimes.

I try so, so hard to remain positive. I did hear on the news and read online that there are more cars being stolen, and more parts being taken off of them, than ever before. One time last year when he was in the hospital. someone tried to steal his catalytic converter, and we had damage to the car that had to be fixed. It was parked elsewhere, but still...I cannot believe that thieves can be so brazen and open--it's like they don't care if they get caught! Thank you, Judy.

@MarieCoyle Sometimes there seems to be little effort to catch such criminals - and not much in the way of deterrents.

@JudyEv I know several police people in my area. They work like dogs, there is never a break because there isn't enough police for each department.

I'm sorry to hear this news. The thief is so reckless and really angry. Perhaps adding cameras can control the occurrence of some crimes.

Here in the US cameras catch hundreds of thieves every day on the cameras. They are not all identified by any means. Many of them wear hoodies and dark clothing, and often hide their faces with a black mask.

@zhangxueying Yes, we do have no shortage of thieves and scammers!

@MarieCoyle They are very cunning. There are thieves here, but the number is not large, and most of them steal cash. However, our digital payment system is too advanced, making it difficult to steal cash. So many people who don't take their jobs seriously are starting to switch careers and become scammers. Haha, they have upgraded from thieves to scammers.

I can’t imagine State Farm wouldn’t cover it (if they don’t I’ll start a protest, and I’m not kidding). However, that’s obviously not the point. It’s bad enough, but boy, when you are a sick person, these things are blows one can barely take. I feel for you both. You think things are okay, and then someone’s stupidity causes a hit to you.

@MarieCoyle And whomever did that is going to have a rude awakening because I firmly believe you reap what you sow. I wouldn’t want to be that jerk.

Thank you, Amber. Sometimes it find myself thinking “the hits just keep on coming!” But I know that as hard as it’s been lately, so many have it worse. We have some food to eat, a place to live, a bed to sleep in, and a lot of good people in our lives. We will get through this one, too.

@AmbiePam I certainly hope so. I do sort of wish I could see the rude awakening in person, but it’s not really necessary. I just hate it for my son. Thank you so much.

I am so sorry, this is just wrong and your son did not need this. When it happened to us during a visit in Italy, the insurance covered.

I think they will. Getting replacement tires and rims may take some time, though. Everything that has to be ordered for cars lately takes forever to get here.

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your son's car, good thing is that nobody was hurt . A lot of thieves are lurking now maybe because of the cost of living these days but its not a valid reason though. Have your son reported the incident to the police? Or does he have a dashcam installed so that he or the police can check who did those to the car?

No dashcam. Yes, we did a police report, we felt we had to for insurance purposes. Thank you, Patricia.

No one I know anywhere, rich or poor, has an apartment with a ''supervised'' parking lot. It's just not a thing. Cameras, yes. But there are no cameras in his parking area.

@MarieCoyle i said that cause here private parking lots are safe. they are behind the building or have a guard that watches the cars.

That is awful. Someone did that just to be mean of course As much as I feel I need to move out of here into a higher population center hearing things like that stops me from moving forward. I feel safe here..and don't know that I could say that for most urban areas. We will see what happens

@snowy22315 I honestly feel pretty safe most of the time here. Late at night, if I have to be out alone, I am a bit uneasy. That happens sometimes when son is in the hospital. But it can't be helped. Thank you.

Ugh ugh ugh. I'm so sorry they did this to your son's car . . . these jerks have no respect, period. There is already enough to deal with in life, no one needs more wrenches .

@much2say It seems that ordering some car parts is a big, long wait as well. What's that saying? ''Hang on to your butts!'' I think it was Jurassic Park, but it definitely applies to life!

Hopefully so, because the rims are all ruined as well...and it won't be cheap to fix. It is not in the budget at all, and there's no way I can pay it, either.

That is so very discouraging. I am sorry that he was the object of vandalism, and I hope that the insurance company will cover it. If it was parked at his apartment, shouldn't this be covered by their insurance, since it happened on their property?

No, it doesn't work that way. You have to use your own insurance. I wish it did, but I have never heard of any apartment taking responsibility for thefts or vandalism, not here in the US.

Am so sorry for the both of you that you experienced that, it's a terrible experience but let's focus on the positive side that they were unable to steal the whole car. The world can be cruel at times due to the actions of some people who are only self centered but what can you do you just need to keep going and try to protect yourself and belongings.
