5/25/24 - Update on My Husband

Almost as soon as we came through the door, the Social Worker saw me and said, "Hi Linda! So good to see you!" She is such a hypocrite. I smiled and told her it was good to see her too. What I should have done was question the physical therapy that my husband is getting. Now that we are on self-pay I question if they are milking us by not working him on the stairs or getting him to get in and out of bed by himself. I had hoped he would be home by June 1. It's not going to happen.
We had a nice visit although most of it was watching my husband eat his McDonald's burgers and fries. lololol
I didn't get a chance to work with the US Department of Health & Human Services regarding the Appeal. Hopefully I will have time on Tuesday.
I thought my husband was going to lose ground by not having PT Saturday through Monday; but his physical therapist said, "See you Monday". That's good.
Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts.

You should have taken the opportunity to meet privately with the social worker right there and then and ask the many questions that you have so that there is a mutual understanding.
I'm glad that he enjoyed his McD's, it must have been a treat day, Grandpa stopped and picked up McD's yesterday on their way home from the play group so that the girls could have fries and nuggets for lunch.

You're right. I was so put off by her honey-sweet conversation that I just wanted to get out of there.

@LindaOHio I would have thought it interesting to see how long she could fake her sweetness.

I am glad you got a chance to see hubby. I think unless you push these people the proper things will not be done though.

@LindaOHio That's what you need to do apparently, unless the insurance gives you an advocate. The one you had really helped with the billing issue.. Of course you don't want them to duck into their office and shut the door when they see you coming though.... Oh it's "her" again!

I've been the squeaky wheel there. I must continue with my questions and complaining.

I hope the appeal process with the US Department of Health & Human Services goes smoothly for you on Tuesday.
It's reassuring to know that his physical therapist will be back on Monday. Keep hanging in there, and know that we're all here for you. Sending continued support, prayers, and positive thoughts your way.

I'm lost for words when it comes to care centers now days
I wonder if they just took time to think that could be them
in the situation they see patients in?? apparently not.

@LindaOHio of course they don't, that's why we get the care

I can't stand any of the people on the office staff that I have spoken to. It's a pity.

Yes. 3 days without PT would just put him behind again.

Has the therapist sat down with you and gave you a timeline or plan for his PT? It would be helpful to know what their plan is for his rehabilitation. I know that reality sometimes affects the timelilne of the plan, but it would still help to know what they hope the progression will be to full recovery.
Still keeping you and your husband in my prayers. Keep the faith that God is working on your husband's healing, even if it doesn't seem to be happening as fast as you'd like.

@LindaOHio It is indeed. Life is hard enough without dealing with such people. And she is someone who is having quite an impact on your lives.

Of course, it is good to get a person on self pay. Insurance folks are more knowledgeable, so they question everything, and therefore, the amounts released are for services needed and provided, not for anything unnecessary.
But then........we too have to work around this self pay business.
As to physiotherapist. In general, I find them quite helpful. Dad's PT is likely to arrive in six minutes from now.

@MarieCoyle Maybe. My husband has never seen the doctor. I met him at the hospital when my husband's surgery was aborted. He asked me where my husband was getting rehab and then told me he was the doctor there.

Maybe they can arrange a meeting with you and the head of PT and the resident doctor. Then you can get the entire picture.
