Doctor Scolding

I remember back when I was 12 years old that my mother took me to a different hospital, one from a different city, to get a different opinion about my health condition. The doctors at our city only said that I was only low on iron; hence, seeking outside from our city because the ones in our city weren't really that helpful. The doctor at Cebu City, Philippines, made me get my heart checked out. It was at that time that we found out the inherited mitral valve prolapse. We went to have an appointment with her the next day, and we were hoping on getting some medicine from her. Instead of giving me medicine she just ended up giving me a full lecture on how I failed to take care of myself. Now, whenever I look back the full lecture was actually a full scolding. I didn't even get any medicine prescribed. Hence, the existence of Doctor Scolding in my memory core.

It was very awkward, and for a twelve year old to be scolded by a doctor for having an illness is really something else. She kind of made me feel stupid that time.

I tend to avoid anual check-ups for that very reason.

I haven't been able to have annual check ups. The last check up I has was last year, but it was more on the blood work.

It's not easy when you're hoping for help and understanding but end up feeling scolded instead.

@HaruLoid It's so important for doctors to provide support and understanding, especially when we're feeling vulnerable. I'm sorry you had to go through that. Hopefully, your future experiences with doctors will be much more positive and encouraging.

Very true. Of all the doctors that I've encountered, she was the only doctor who scolded me to the point that I felt very dull.

@annierose That's true. I do hope that no doctors would make their patients feel the way I felt when the doctor scolded me.

I agree. We ended up going to another different doctor. Fortunately, the next doctor was very nice.

how rude of her. i witnessed the same but last year. they think they are big shots and scolding, in your case, she is not your mother. i am sorry for this memory. i don't like doctors in general.

@HaruLoid correct. they act really entitled and what i don't like they all treat us in general, according to our age and not what we are saying and then they say, they have so many patients. i get that butthey are not doing that for free.

That's understandable. Doctors do tend to forget that not all people are like them who knows everything.

I sometimes think Doctors are only after the money and do not care about each individual person.

That's true. There's actually a lot of them here. You can only find few doctors who are genuinely taking good care of you.
