Good news - Vince is now out of intensive care

I’ve just come home from visiting Vince in hospital. He’s been moved to a private room which took them two hours. He is still hooked up to oxygen but has various tubes attached so they can check this and that as needs be. He is definitely improving now so that is great. His friends will be able to visit him although they’ve been warned not to stay too long as he gets exhausted very quickly.
One interesting thing he said is that the bed can read his weight. It sounds a pretty clever bed to be able to do that. He has lost 3 kilograms (6.6 pound) but he went in a couple of kilo above his normal weight. I’m sure he’ll put it back on as he won’t be able to exercise much for quite a while.
Thanks again for the prayers, positive vibes and good wishes. It has been a huge comfort to me and I (and he) really appreciate it.
The photo is of Vince and some Nepalese students. The group he was involved with donated these bikes so the schoolchildren could get to school rather than walking up to 5 kms.

I hope he will be soon de-wired if there is such a word and get busy taking photographs as that has been his passion

@Juliaacv In the booklet we were given it says no cooking for two weeks! It just seemed a strange thing to mention. But other things were strange too - no sewing, ironing, making beds, all sorts of things. I guess they're just trying to cover their backs.

Nice to know that. And thanks for the update.
That is a great picture. :)
You know something Judy? Periodically, fanaticism takes the center stage in India, as it has now. I feel scared to invite anybody over then.
Many people from your worlds have given donations, especially to charities run by missionaries. Steve Waugh and Cliff Richard come to mind. But the risks are way too much.
The perception is these mission organizations are converting people. Graham Staines, an Australian missionary was burnt alive with his kids almost 25 years ago! So kinda, fanaticism is hard to control, and has no tolerance.
Nepal has no such history. But India, despite our so called cosmopolitan culture is quite brittle.

@JudyEv Please don't hate me for this, though I am also a Hindu. I am more liberal than the rest. I can just say sorry. It was not even a religion. It is just jealousy at the respect another person who helps commands. I think you cannot identify with that.

@JudyEv - That is such good news that Vince has been moved to a private room. I love the group that he belongs to that donated the bikes to the children. I remember that years ago he went to another country to help them dig wells. What wonderful things you both do!

@JudyEv - Our photos bring back many good memories, don't they? It is so nice to look back over our lives and have good memories of the way we spent our years. At age 75, I feel like I have lead a very satisfying life, and was able to give a helping hand to many people over the years. What more can we ask from our lives?

@DeborahDiane You're right. We/I need to be happy that we've done some good along the way and it's okay to do a little less now.

I´m so glad that he is better. 3 kilos is not a big loss of weight, specially at a hospital. He´ll have them back when he is at home again.

@JudyEv I think I've missed a month or so of myLot . . . gosh so much can happen during that time. I can only imagine what you've both been going through . . . but hopefully this good news for Vince brings great relief and reassurance about his recovery. Hugs to you both!

I like those beds and chairs (they use chairs at the VA clinic) that weigh you while you’re in them. A good invention, borne of necessity. A lot of patients couldn’t stand or get out of bed to be weighed.
So glad Vince is out of ICU! Praying he continues to recover well and quickly!

I found it hard to fathom how it could weigh him and disregard pillows, blankets, etc.
Thanks for the prayers. He looked really good today and we went for two short walks. He got to put ticks on his whiteboard. He needs one more walk today and I guess then he gets a gold star.

Thanks, Marie. Yes. Getting out of ICU was the first big hurdle. He's doing well now.

I don't know if I would want a bed that told me how much weight I had gained. LOL.
I am glad he is improving, I have not been very good about being here and checking in on my favorite myLotters, whom you are one of.

That's so kind. Thank you. I have always dreaded those scales that call out your weight. I'd be pulling its batteries out! lol

Yes, in one hospital they weighed Bob in the bed. Modern medicine.

Amazing, isn't it? Not every bed has the same amount of bedding, etc. Pretty cool.
