Is it global warming?

The water down at the lake was quite pleasant for this time of the year. Normally Memorial Day weekend it is cool but swimmable. This year it feels more like it does in mid June. We have had some hot days, but nothing that much out of the ordinary. Have you noticed any changes in the water near you?

Yes, I would say that is global warming, the earth is warmer in general. The winter was mild and the lakes would not have gotten as cold as they have in other years. We had what I would consider to be a 'normal' spring season. It is getting hot much earlier at the end of this season then it used to.

I didn't mind the change but come July the lake might not be pleasant to swim in. That normally happens if we have a string of 100 degree days. Luckily, that never happened last year

@Juliaacv We get that sometimes, but it doesn't happen every year and in all places.

@snowy22315 Here our lakes develop an algae plume during the month of July and the beaches are often closed as a result.

Funny that global warming can cause heat and very cold weather along with violent storms of many kinds.

Yes, it might more appropriately be called climate change or climate disturbance.

We had a too warm month of February, March was as warm as June, but with April the rain came and now the temperature is a lot colder than the previous years.

@LadyDuck It rained heavily last night, and we may have some severe thunderstorms today.

@snowy22315 I am not complaining because of the lower temperature, but I would like less rain.

The weather in my area will be very hot starting at noon through 8 pm tomorrow on Memorial Day. It could be global warming.

Yes, I would say it's global warming and climate change. I don't know about our water. I don't go swimming in Lake Erie. Have a good evening and holiday.

Lake Erie is really only warm enough to swim in from Mid July to mid August if you ask me. I haven't actually been in the water for years though. We were down at the shore playing around though in the last 5-10 years though.

If we get storms today like we did last night..it may cause some of the area streams to flood. We are on high ground though. Nothing floods in this immediate area .

I'm glad you could swim in the lake. I haven't noticed the water temperature changes. I don't go swimming in a lake.

Usually when it gets to be summer they will broadcast the temp of the lake on TV, at least they do in Erie..and other areas on or near Great Lakes. Not this one here though..although it is popular and large I don't think enough people use it for that

@snowy22315 I wish the water would go where it's needed so we don't cover the whole world with smoke again.
