Tear jerker marriages and separations

As a kid, we traveled to another town for vacation. The whole bunch of us. While returning it used to be perfect drama for films. All of us crying and making scene at the railway station. Others on platform must think we were some actors or possibly mad...because I don't recall feeling ashamed of crying back then, nor noticed them. For some reason, marriages are happy occasions and yet sad ones...happy because responsibility as imposed by the society gets over, and the bride as well as everybody gets to look beautiful ok...ok...overdecked,...whatever...with all that ensemble. But as the reality dawns ...lots of tears flow...sob sob sob...does it happen even in the west? I wonder...but here it does... So yesterday, our watchman was sobbing too....his daughter who was here for some treatment and with him for two months left... he cried like a baby...never seen men cry like that. I still have my childhood legacy. I do cry ...not always, but sometimes. Do temporary separations cause so much pain at your end, or do you all accept children going to hostels or elsewhere for studies in a matter of fact way?

I have a hard time not to cry every time our Irish son goes back home or whenever we leave Ireland to come home.

You cry Judy? Why is crying considered bad...it is natural...I think. Did you cry when you got married?

@JudyEv Nephew cried? Why? I thought it is only the bride, her mother, her siblings, her father, her friends who cry.

@vandana7 Funnily enough I didn't cry when I got married. I went to a nephew's wedding and he cried all the way through. And that made me cry.

Separation is always tough for families. I've been separated from my husband for 4 months now. When I get to see him, sometimes I will cry with happiness. Have a good week.

I understand Linda. But there is light at the end of the tunnel now. Did you cry when you were married? I mean, father gives away the bride, at that time. Or when you leave the family ...your movies don't show brides crying. At our end, its kinda, everybody is crying friends family..

@LindaOHio Indian brides are happy getting married, but sad when they leave their parents. It is a realization that all that pampering by parents will no longer be there perhaps.

I used to be extremely depressed with such things. Then my friend told me, forget it, go back. Tell yourself it is that easy. I did that...7 days after returning I went back. That told me, well, I could do it any day what was I getting disturbed about...and I matured.

@vandana7 it just happened with us we can't control our emotions, sometimes we need to go according to the flow instead of holding up.

For sure i hate separation, whether the separation is between friends or relatives. However,i remember one saying that as long as there are reunion, naturally there will be separation.Reunion and separation always bond together. Then we should get used to separation after reunion,no choice.I can understand the man cried, separation from daughter broke his heart...

I still don't understand. We are just a phone call away, and maybe few miles away that we can very well travel these days. Why should it still pain us so much. I used to cry when hostel mates were leaving...sissy....of course they would return just a month later...most of them. But it is funny that I used to cry...in retrospect...it does feel that way. The watchman CAN meet his child every other month...

@jefferson126 That supposed to be attachment. He is miffed because I was smiling I suppose. But he does go every other month to meet her...sigh.
