Had to return some stuff I bought online

I had purchased five pairs of shoes and a pair of sneakers recently. The sneakers and three pairs of shoes had to go back to the store. Sneakers had a damage. The shoes were a little big. Plus, they were similar to those I decided to keep. Thankfully, the returns went into the same credit card statement so I don’t have to pay for the stuff I returned when it’s time to pay the bill. I lost $8.99 though because at the store where I bought sneakers shipping charges are not refunded when you return an item to the store. Turns out same is true for the store I bought shoes from. But thankfully, I got free shipping on that purchase. I guess that may very well be the policy everywhere. Now I know not to buy something online unless I get free shipping in case I need to return the stuff.

It seems like shipping charges tend to get us every time in one way or anohter.

@lovebuglena ......That's true unless it is a deal where there is free shipping. I like those.

Sometimes if something is cheaper online than in an actual store it becomes more expensive once you add on the shipping charge. It’s not worth it then to buy that item online.

That's why I'm careful about what I buy online. Especially when it comes to returns.

You really have to look at the return policy before buying something online.

At least you could return the merchandise, I have not bought any shoes lately and the red housedress I bought arrived just right from Amazon,

I’ve never bought clothes or shoes from Amazon.

I'm sorry you needed to return them. I'm glad you got a refund of all but the shipping fee.

I knew I wasn’t going to keep all the shoes. I just wasn’t sure which ones I’d want to keep and which I’d return.

You really do need to take shipping into account when buying online. I often forget to do that.

After this experience I definitely won’t buy stuff online I may need to return if I can’t get free shipping

Amazon has free returns a lot of times. You might consider buying from them; but just watch what their policy is on that item. Have a great day.

Even if free returns they probably don’t refund the shipping if you paid for it.

@lovebuglena There's usually free shipping and free returns. Each item is different.

I only buy things online if I can get free shipping. It’s just easier on me.

I really wanted those sneakers so decided to pay for shipping. Otherwise I don’t buy things unless the item or the total is eligible for free shipping.

The returning should be much easier.

I prefer to return online stuff to an actual store. Don’t have to worry about printing shipping labels and mailing stuff. And don’t have worry about whether they received the package or not. Plus, the return gets processed faster.

That's a lot of pair of shoes! But like some people, I would very much like to buy shoes in actual stores. The shoes in online shops sometimes fail to give the right size and correct image of the shoes. Sometimes the measurements of the sizes are different too.

Downside is in stores there is less available. More options online. But then you have to deal with returning stuff if it is not good or doesn’t fit.
