I finally gave up on my therapist

I am not sure if I should give up on therapy too. I didn't find another therapist. I found a new group therapy and it is $50 for a month. I didn't dare to give up until now and I finally had the courage today. In our last therapy session, I told him that I was looking for solutions. He didn't offer them. I found them in other places. Why should I pay someone if he doesn't offer me any solutions? I am glad that I could make a decision. I have mixed feelings. I had therapy with that person for more than a year. But lately, he couldn't help me. I continued for so long because he offered a lower fee. Lately, he didn't care about me at all. Our last therapy session lasted less than 50 minutes. He usually offered 50 minutes therapy sessions. Now I don't trust therapists. They only care about money. They are fake when they say that they care about us. They don't have empathy.

That’s wrong. I understand that’s how you feel, and it’s valid. But you said they, as in every therapist? No. I’ve had extremely wonderful therapists who cared and went to great lengths to help me. You just haven’t met a good one yet. Just be wary of therapy that offers a good deal. That may be the only way they can get a client is if they offer a good deal.

@dya80dya Have all the ones you tried been discounted or cheap? I have seen probably six different ones in my life, and every single one has been good. Sure, there are bad ones most definitely. I know a girl whose therapist told her the dumbest thing ever, which I won’t repeat, but it was damaging and stupid. The very next one she got, she’s been with for six years. You HAVE had just the very worst luck.

@AmbiePam One of them offered free therapy. Some of them were discounted because I insisted a lot. I told them that I didn't have any income. And I couldn't do therapy if they didn't offer a discount. Maybe I need to continue trying therapy with different therapists.

Most of them are like that. I had a bad experience with another therapist. He told me to have therapy with chat GBT. And other ones were worse. Maybe I didn't have good luck to find a good therapist.

I agree with you. I am hesitant to go to a therapist because they charge a lot of money and it is difficult to figure out if you are getting your money's worth. I perfer to use Cognitive Based Therapy on myself. Here is a link to the text of a podcast that is very interesting. Maybe you can use these techniques!

Thank you! I heard about this book. I have it and it's very useful. I didn't know that there is a podcast too.

@dya80dya I just bought the second book: Feeling Great, along with the workbook, so when it comes I will be working with it. All therapy is bascially self - therapy with the therapist can be useful but it is often very expensive, takes time away from your own work, or schooling. I don't have the time to do that. So I will work with these books instead.

If you feel the therapist can't solve your problem;better leave them and look for a better one.I have never been to a therapist;I can't comment on their ability.
