I bought a little pot of venus flytrap lately. I have searched some information how to grow it well, I even use a plant light to give it some extra "sunshine" Now it's the second day and it is still alive.
Hopefully it can grow well for a long time and of course I know it's not so easy.

@youless No the plants if they have enough sunlight and water don't really have to catch bugs, but it is an adaptation to the poor soil in their native habitat. So the extra protein from the bugs helps the plant survive. But if they are a houseplant, so you don't have to worry it.

I have always wanted one of those. I wonder if they are hard to keep alive?

@youless yes, I had the feeling it wouldn't be easy. I think some keep them in a terrarium or other enclosed environment.

That's exciting! Venus flytraps are fascinating plants. It sounds like you're giving it the care it needs to thrive. They can be a bit challenging to grow, but with the right conditions, they can live for a long time. Keep up the good work, and hopefully, you'll enjoy your Venus flytrap for years to come!

@youless Venus flytraps can be quite finicky. It’s all about finding that balance of light, water, and soil to keep them thriving.

As long it doesn't ask for blood, I think you are okay. I have friend who got one. I'm not sure hers survived.

I had one of these when I was a child, in Los Angeles. They can close when a fly lands on the "leaf" and after a few days the leaf will open again ready to catch another fly. I have two cats and a dog right now so I think that they would bother the plant too much.
They are a protected plant if they are in their native habitat in the swamps of the Carolinas. Buy them from a plant nursery, don't pick them!
Have fun watching your plant catch the flies.
