First month black out

Philippines
June 3, 2024 7:59am CST
I've read on social media and the news about Luzon Power plants going red alert because of the heat. Sadly, they were forced to shut it down and we experience our first black out in five months this year. Worst is that the storm is over and it's all hot weather all over again. I had to walk all over stores and tried to load my phone for some internet connection, none of it worked. Good thing the black out lasted only for two hours. Kinda envy those people who have solar panels in their homes.

I'm glad I haven't had to deal with a long-term power outage in the last few days, but I did have a brief outage a couple of weeks ago. The heat is really a drain on power plants, and it's affecting the grid in some areas. This weather is a bit of a bummer, especially for those of us who rely on electricity. I hope the grid can handle the strain and that the power outages will be short.

@Letranknight2015 Right now Solar Power is still a bit pricey than the conventional oil or coal. I know some companies have started wind and solar to take advantage of the sun and the wind as an alternative source of power. Hopefully in the coming days we can afford buying solar panels for our own use to harness its power to ourselves but it seems a long time before that would be realized.

Hello @rsa101 Wished they just thought of creating a solar power plant instead. The heat from the sun would have been beneficial to us as another source of electricity. Lucky for others who have solar power. But it was good when your drying clothes.

We only have one solar panel in the terrace beside our house. I think we will experience another brownout here in Metro Manila in the future

Maybe it's time to buy another rechargable fan @cabuyogty the one I bought before blows very low even at maximum. probably solar powered too.

@Letranknight2015 how much is the rechargable solar fan? I'm interested to know even though it blows very low.

Even here, especially in places like California, they do rolling, planned blackouts since their grids cannot handle the capacity when everyone is running their air conditioners during the summer. Yet, at the same time, they want to go all electric from cars to everything else, and they can't even handle the capacity now without adding those things. This is what we, here, call insanity. lol

That is hard to believe that you're having black outs over there? @porwest maybe it's time for me to buy another rechargable fan. Or just buy a better folding bed since I've been sleeping outside again.

@Letranknight2015 Not me here. But in California they do them on purpose.
