What Was I Thinking?

When I left for my walk, I really thought I could do all three portions of the trail. By the time I came around by the bus shelter after the first two sections, my brain was asking me, "What was I thinking?" I really thought I could do it, but I was beat, and I had my steps, so I headed back to the apartment.
I got stopped along the way with a text message from my beautician. I had a hair appointment I completely forgot about at 1 p.m. and I needed to get a ride to get there on time. I was on time. My hair looks great.
And it started pouring soon after we left the complex. So, walking three sections this morning wasn't feasible by any stretch of my imagination. Oh, and my brain reminded me I'm not 20 anymore. I'm 70 and walking like I thought I could was not going to happen.
The brain is a wonderful thing when it works for you and not against you.
Okay, so it's been an interesting day so far. It's raining and I don't know when it will stop. Have you had reminders about things you forgot? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

I am sure that I have, but can't think of any. Trying is good though...and it is good you got to your hair appointment on time.

You tried, and that's what's important. I only got one reminder today, but I was expecting it.

Never mind 20... I keep forgetting I'm not 65 anymore. I could spend all day gardening then and finish everything. Not today. I just kept going until I couldn't stop myself and suddenly it was 6:30. I'll probably pay for it tomorrow.

@just4him Actually, I'm surprised that I feel fine this morning. I got a solid 5 hours' sleep before having to pee, then went back for a couple more. I've done a load of laundry and hung it out to dry and now I'm having a bowl of cereal before doing anything else in the garden.

@BarBaraPrz I'm glad you're doing well this morning.
I've done almost the same. My laundry is done. I only need to put it away. It's all folded and hung up.
I got a full night's sleep without getting up. That is so rare. I was surprised to see daylight when I opened my eyes.
I hope you have another good day in the garden.

I'm glad you got your walking in, before the showers hit! And yes, I overlooked a dentist appointment, marked 1:00P on my calendar instead of 10:00A. Boy was the receptionist ever mad! I got there 15 minutes late. She acted like I'd committed a federal crime:( I knew better than to ever do that again And the dentist was as sweet as apple pie!(he was always kind).

@kobesbuddy All medics are getting upset these days. My animals Vet charges me 40.00 if I don't show up and don't tell them I am not going to show up. The Vet also demands that the fee be paid before he will see me and mine again.

I'm not reluctant. I considered it, but when I got the reminder, I was glad I was on my way back to the apartment.
You must be young to say, 'at my age'. I don't feel old. I don't even look old. Where I live many people use walkers and canes. I use neither unless it becomes mandatory. Which is rare. I'm in good physical condition. So, when my body tells me I need to quit, I do.
