It is great, yet there is one not so great thing about it!

Good morning myLot! I had been put on a second medicine for anxiety at the beginning of May. It worked great. Then my legs started to get wobbly My case manager called my doctor who said to get off it a week ago. the wobbling went away, however, over the weekend it came back. and all that anxiety came back. Yesterday, I saw my doctor again, he decided to put me back on the 15 mg of Abilify that he took me off of. I guess because I had some in my system, the anxiety is lessened and I feel great. But there is one slight problem. I am back to nodding off. I nodded off watching TV when I woke up this morning, then I just got up not long ago from nodding off again reading! I would complain but I feel so good every other way. And I get a good night's sleep for the first time in almost 10 years! I was taking the Abilify from the last bottle as I had a lot left but the Pharmacy just called and they just called for the second time today with an automated telling me they filled a new bottle of it. I will ask the pharmacist if I finish the bottle I have and then start the new bottle or start a new bottle and not use the bottle I have. I think there is a saying "Waste not, want not" Have you or somebody you know ever taken a medicine for whatever reason, love it yet it has some slight problems that don't make it perfect?

Yeah I've been there. I hae it but what are you going to do? Sometimes its needed. And while nodding off is annoying it's one of the body's best ways to deal with what it can't handle.

@LovesEverybody When you start or stop and then start a medication, it can take time for the body to get used to it. Most anti-anxiety meds are designed to aide in sleeping. As sleep is the body's natural healing force. So as long as it doesn't interfere with your everyday life you should be fine staying the course.

there is not much I can do as I like how I feel on the Abilify. I would hare to stop taking it I guess nodding off isn't so bad. On a positive note, i didn't nod off yet today. so maybe that will stop

@kaylachan Thank you for replying. I am not used to nodding off so much because my other anti-anxiety medicine, Buspar, doesn't cause me to get sleepy. I have been told that Buspar is the only medicine for anxiety that doesn't make a person sleepy. It doesn't really interfere with my everyday life as it makes me feel better. Not completely yet, but I am waiting on it Also, if I am honest with myself I like the drowsiness somewhat with this new medicine as I sleep somewhat better at night, or at least I get some sleep.

Well maybe the sleep and nodding off can help you as well. Everyone needs a quality sleep. I am glad it is helping with your anxiety. When my carpal tunnel was flaring up the doctors put me on gabapentin which worked for a bit but messed with my mood. It was making me depressed I had to stop it and endure the pain instead.

Good point as I can certainly use some good sleep. For many years now I would go to sleep, get 2 to 3 hours of sleep, and be awake from 10 p.m. I would be awake until 7 p.m. the next day I have the darkest circles under my eyes which embarrass me I am sorry you had to endure the pain from your carpal tunnel. I think medicines work differently for everybody. I know somebody who used to get depressed I think my dad took gabapentin. I am not sure off-hand but I think we give my cat a cat form to sedate him when the vet comes

@LovesEverybody I totally feel you about that lack of sleep. I started appreciating quality sleep when I started having health problems and getting deprived of them. Hopefully your under eye bags will lighten soon.

@flapiz I don't remember what quality sleep is like Maybe if I get more sleep the under-eye bags will go away. Can they go away?

We often seem to end up with part bottles of this and that. It's hard sometimes not to be wasteful.

@LovesEverybody we can take our unwanted tablets to the chemist. He will dispose of them for us. It's a good service.

@JudyEv That is a good service. I heard there is one pharmacy a few towns away that always has a box displayed and people can add their unwanted medicine whenever they no longer need it. I have never taken my medicine back to that pharmacy There is also one national day I think where there are multiple places for people to take back medicines

It is hard to believe how many bottles of unfinished medicine I have because I started new ones. I have two bottles of very low doses of Abilify I am now taking one 15 mg pill. I used to take 2 mg and 10 mg of Abilify daily now they are not being used. at certain times in my area, there are designated areas where we can take unused or unwanted medicine to be disposed of properly. I am not sure if other areas do the same thing

Almost everyone we know who has to take medication on a regular basis suffers from some of the side effects of it. I am glad yours is working for you.

thank you! I think it works because I take it with Buspar, another anxiety medicine, and I take that three times a day. so maybe they are working together. very seldom have I ever had side effects from medication and I have been taking it since the summer before my freshman year of highschool. That is almost 40 years.

I take abilify as well, I think it does help regulate my sleep. That sucks about the anxiety meds, they usually make you sleepy. I love my diazepam but it makes me so drowsy, above my normal drowsyness I feel all the time during the day.

if you want an anxiety med that doesn't make you tired, talk to your doctor about Buspar. I think that is the only one that doesn't cause sleepiness. I before abilify I was drowsy but had insomnia and barely slept

i did. antidepressants, pills for iron difecency, pills for my stomach. i didn't like any of them. i am now only on my pills for my blood pressure. i would get rid of them as well but apparently they take care of my heart and kidneys, which are not entirely in danger but a bit.

Yes, keep taking the pills for your blood pressure. There are some medicines that one should take because of real need. if you need pills to take care of your heart and kidneys then it is important to take them. I take three pills for my heart

@grenery8 I take 17 different pills a day when I count all the pills that I take! it used to bother me a lot but I have taken so many for so long that it doesn't even bother me anymore. I am used to it. it is just the so-called cards I was handed in life

Ozembic is pretty good, but it does have some side effects that are annoying. They don't really seem to be bothering me much now though. Maybe you just need to habituate to the medicine.

Yes, I agree that Ozembic is a great medicine. The last time my sister reported to me it was helping her blood sugar a lot. But for many months it had bad side effects, She started it in the fall and the side effects subsided sometime in the spring I will wait it out with my medicine. If I am completely honest without myself it is not that bad how sleepy I am. As long as I am awake for the things I have to do, I am happy with how i am feeling
