No human machine is as scary as the dentist's drilling machine.... And then they painstakingly take one needle after the other trying to clean up something. So about 8 years ago, I read an article that we may get something like chewing gum which will form the tooth, and stick to our gums. I guess that didn't materialize or won't during my lifetime. But Japanese researchers are trying to regrow teeth. The clinical trials start this September. So in six years or so, I could get that treatment. No more sadism on me. Of course, the present trial is only for specific type of tooth problem. But it will solve other problems once this trial is successful. I wonder if they will allow me to grow dracula teeth ...won't I love to scare some people out here... But ..if you do suffer with dental issues...here is an article that will make you feel optimistic about future.

Dracula teeth . . . oh Vanny, I am laughing so hard here . . . I just knew you would bring that up ! And if something were to happen to those, you could regrow them too . . . shark teeth kinda work that way, right ? That may be excellent for patients, but I wonder what that will do for the dental industry. Yes it is a solution to help people, but that might threaten some dental professionals . . . interesting how that might play out. Hopefully they will not protest against this development? In any case, it'd be great if this could help us in our futures, if we need it .

It is not as simple as chewing chewing gum as yet... dentists would still have to extract some stem cells, study it and culture it in appropriate medium, and then get kinda design frame tentative one like invisalign. Then inject the stem cells with whatever is needed for them to multiply. Then monitor whether it is becoming like a dracula tooth or shark tooth...I see them around still. Just not as much blood shed. Good for all of us...less chances of COVID spreading.

@much2say I want to be a vampire...I wish people would be scared...of me...I will get my hair straightened and buy a few clothes like vampire....boy ...the thought itself is soooooooooo very exciting. I think they will have to pick stem cells from our body especially other teeth ...so they will knock off a few to capture pluripotent stem cells...I guess the pluripotent stem cells in mouth are different from from elsewhere in the body. Basically, my guess is this is stem cells based technology. You grow them in petridish ...then inject...using syringe...yeah..it needs to be injected in right position so technology computers for precision. Then externally framework ....that can be removed...after the job is over...some little chipping my also be on cards at the end of a couple of weeks. Not going to be very cheap for sure...at first. But not expensive and certainly not painful. The sight of my own blood makes me feel very weak. I lose as much as I lose in periods... The other alternative to stem cells, is they will identify the chemical that prevents the regrowth of the teeth. And inject it. This going to be much simpler....precision is unnecessary. But still the need to align teeth will be there, because gums tend to disappear with age.

@vandana7 Getting stem cells from sharks may be much easier than getting them from vampires . It would be an amazing feat for this to become reality . . . 6 years is quite soon. But exciting. Imagine it could help other aspiring vampires out there !

If they succeed with it, I am sure the next thing they will try is growing hair. LOL

They have succeeded in animals, so I do not see why they would not succeed in humans. But all clinical trials and approvals take time. They also have to study after effects..so six years only away from telling dentists go to hell. LOL

That would be great if they could regrow teeth; but I'll bet to start it will be very, very expensive.

Health insurance companies will start offering dental treatment expenses. Even small cavity, we could get the tooth removed, and regrow new tooth. Maybe I am fantasizing. But now all that seems to be not too far.
