Yesterday I felt generous and put 3 cucumbers out for that little squirrel that lived here, I don't know if squirrels eat cucumbers but low and behold Roscoe does.
I knew dogs like pumpkin, cantaloup, watermelon, bananaas and carrots but up til yesterday I had no idea they liked cucumbers.
Roscoe was in a playful mood so he grabbed a cucumber and proceeded to run like the wind with it. I tried to get a good video of him but what you see is all I could get in the first video.
I had no idea Roscoe liked cucumbers so what a shock when he began to play with them, I had put 3 out for the local squirrel.

That is TOO funny .. . oh yah and boy that cucumber disappeared! I think he went to show his treasure off to the neighbor dogs . Well Roscoe's got some healthy sense in him . . . the cucumber will keep him hydrated and full of good nutrients !

That is sweet of him, Roscoe is a lovable pup, he would only bite someone if they were trying to hurt me ..... as for guard dog he is big so that deters many and he does love to bark otherwise he would simply run if someone tried to approach him.

@rebelann I was out pulling weeds today. I heard UPS coming up and even louder Rufus. I couldn't get out there soon enough. I found packages outside my gate on the sidewalk. Rufus acts like a mini Dobermann when delivery drivers show up.

@rebelann Guess it wasn't as tasty as Roscoe thought it would be. I can relate.

Cute video. Did not know dogs ate fruits and vegetables. Ours only ate bananas though

How funny but the more I read about what dogs eat the more I feel that they're more omnivores than I'd expected

What a happy boy! Cucumbers are delicious, dogs probably could take a liking to any veggie:)

That's not always the case, sometimes they're so hungry they'll eat anything they can get.

@rebelann Dogs and cats are smart. They won't eat things that are harmful to their body.

Roscoe is such a cutie. Our dogs hated cucumbers. They would kill for a carrot or some scrambled eggs.

@rebelann I always made a big breakfast on Sundays; and the dogs would hover around, waiting for their scrambled eggs. Now I can't cook; and we don't have dogs. Sigh.

My Mom had a poodle who loved salads (no dressing please). If we bought salad makings and didn't box them she would root them out of the grocery bags and eat the lettuce, tomato, cucumber, mushrooms, carrots and whatever else we got for salads. She loved the crunch and the flavors. The only problem was the result that came from the end, and came from the end, and came from the end.
Every once in awhile we would get onions and she would fish them out of the bag...she would settle down and chew them (we could smell them of course) and start to cough, sneeze and wheeze. We always had water available in a travel dish for the dogs when they were in the car, and she headed for the water dish and drank like crazy. She laid off salads for a bit after that, but about a month later she was back on the salads.
In the wild dogs would eat grasses and other greenery. Even at home my garden wasn't safe from doggie teeth, tomatoes, lettuce, certain herbs would be munched on by the dogs...and if their stomachs were upset they would "mow the lawn" so they could vomit.

@rebelann Pandor the garbage disposal (we nicknamed her garbage disposal, we tried to keep her out of things she shouldn't eat...she got to them anyway. She also loved grazing in the cat box) loved onions and such. It must have contributed to her longevity, she lived to be 22 years old! That was darned good for an over weight mid sized poodle.
Onions also give them horrible breath!!! You think humans' breath is bad when they eat onions, you should have experienced Pandoras!!!
