This is a new lily I got at Zogie's yesterday. I left my hand in the picture so you can judge the size of the blossom. I do not know if it will get bigger next year, when growing in the soil or not. Lilies are beautiful and quite easy care. I have some much larger lilies that will bloom soon. They were growing at the base of my foundation, and I dug them all up (I thought) and moved them to the front yard. Now I have them in the front yard, and more have shown up on the east side, growing against my foundation. I think the larger ones I have are called "trout lilies". The problem of buying new plants is coming up with places to plant them. I will do it, though. I got some regular "sweet basil" but also have two other kind already. Outdoor work will happen this afternoon. I got a zucchini plant, and a cucumber. Zogie gave me an ornamental geranium. I bought two kinds of tomatoes. For now, I have some indoor organizing to do. Today I am enjoying being at home for the morning.

Sounds like you made out well there! I have some flowers I need to plant. I might do it today. This would be a good day for it.

I did not get much done outside. Things came up that interrupted me. I got my spicy globe basil into a pot, and the rest of my moss rose into a planter. Every thing was nice and watered from our big storms last night, but man it was humid and still. Too darn hot.

You sound like me when it comes to gardens. I can't have lilies cause they are poisonous to critters. I don't think any of the fur kids would nibble but it takes just once.

I have never had them even come close to lilies. Not even the day lilies. They have plenty of other green things to munch on.

The size of the blossom is impressive, and having your hand in the picture for scale is a great idea. It's always exciting to add new plants to your garden, but finding the perfect spot for them can be a fun challenge. The variety you have, including the trout lilies, sounds lovely. And it sounds like you have a lot of outdoor work planned for the afternoon with all those new plants to care for. Enjoy your time at home and your gardening adventures!

Working with plants is very relaxing. The vegetables I got will go in large containers to grow. This lily will go in the ground in front of my house.
