110 Years Today, My Dad was Born

No, this isn't a Happy Birthday discussion. Instead, it's a pleasant memory that I will carry in my heart, until the day I pass away. Russell Vance was a good man! I had a good father! This is something that many people haven't been blessed with. Their dad was possibly unknown, had abandoned their child or shunned the responsibility to support their young. Yet, some of us had good fathers. My dad was a strict disciplinarian, with a very soft heart filled with compassion. Every minute of his life was devoted to making a way for his wife and four kids. Oh yah, we had a dog and scads of cats, they were all well fed, also. Was Dad an animal lover? NO! But his three daughters kept dragging these treasures home, one at a time. What took the cake was my sweet guinea pig, Herman. Who ended up giving this rodent a portion of TLC? Not me, it was my father! They became best friends, for over ten years:) Herman outlived the average guinea pig, by about four years Back to the original topic, Dad was born on June 9th, 1914 in Turner, Michigan. That farm house is still standing, even though the barn was taken down by a tornado in 2015. Dad would be 110 years old, imagine that? He's in heaven, smiling down at this time and flapping his wings, I'm sure

You and your dad will be reunited someday. My dad was born in the countryside of Latvia in 1905 in April. It is good to have the memories,

Such a lovely story. My mother was a sucker for animals of all sorts and had a few unusual pets over her lifetime.

Dad was in the army during WWII. He was discharged in 1942 and the typist made a mistake, she typed 1492! My father and Columbus were friends lol
