Last year, during winter, it rained a lot too. And unfortunatly money and corruption go together so there are luxury apartments in the coast that were built on dunes.
There are lots of reasons not to do that, specially since dunes are HILLS of sands. So the water flows.
Last year a lot of money had to be spent in filling the holes with giant rocks. As you imagine, that was not only expensive but also ugly. And the people who had bought those elegant apartments were not exactly happy.
This year it started to rain again. And due to climate change there´s more water coming from the nearby mountains. There is a giant sinkhole again, very near the other ones from last year. The people who lived there had to be evaquated.
I am not sure whether the large building companies just closed their eyes to regulations or there was money handed to whoever had to sign the approval.
Anyway, now I would not, for all the money in the world, go to live in one of those beautiful apartments that are so near the seashore. Dunes are to play in summer.
Do you have such problems where you live?

If you build your house on sand, you might wash away someday. Build it on solid rock if you want it to last.
We are in a drought in this area. Rain has fallen all around but not here. I don't know what will happen if it does not change. They have been predicting rain from a tropical storm brewing but they keep pushing the date up.

@marguicha ......That is where they should go. The building won't last and it was basically a waste of time and money.

I like this piece. Such a beautiful poem or lovely song lyrics. This piece would be beautiful set to music. Your are such a talented lyricist and poet. Very cool piece of writing. Captivating imagery and use of language. Your writing style is reminiscent of John Mellencamp.

No, I don't. That is an expensive place to live if you have to keep doing such maintenance. Living on sand I would think that it would slowly be sinking. That's rather scary.

@celticeagle I think that someone should check who gave the permit to build.

I´m sure that the big companies pay the people who give the permits to build.

@TheHorse I can understand ancient buildings that were built where they should not do it. But there is no reason to build in dangerous places now, with all that we know now.

@marguicha Yep. Heh. We have a leaning tower in San Francisco. I wonder if it's holding steady now.

Well, right now we have a building being built next door to us and another big three-story building being built across the street so there is noise with the construction and I have not idea what they are building,

Three story buildengs are nothing. These buildings that could be destroyed any time are many stories high.
