Unexplainable Feeling

That my family and partner has been suggesting to try looking for a job at my hometown if finding a job has been too difficult already here in the City. I nodded and nodded without saying a word, but deep down my body feels uncomfortable. I don't want to go back. If I'm ever going to return to my hometown, I don't want to be seen or talked to by anyone at all. The only reason why I'm still in this City because no one knows me personally. I can't explain the feeling.

Do what you feel is best for you. No one else has to deal with whatever job you get, or the people you come into contact with. No human knows better than you what is best. If you don’t feel your hometown is good for you, don’t go back unless you have zero choice. Your happiness and joy in life matters.

Thank you for this. Right now, I may just need some clarity on my job applications before I can start deciding on these things. If I ever do return to our hometown, I know many won't be able to understand me because mental health is never recognized there. No one would understand how I act or think.

@HaruLoid Mental health is so misunderstood, yet it is just as important as any other aspect of our well being, if not more so.

Are you sure it's easier to find a job in your hometown?

@HaruLoid Hometown may be your retreat, or perhaps it's not yet time for despair. So you still want to persist in finding a job in your favorite city. I can understand your thoughts, because I have been away from my hometown for 13 years and it feels awkward to be there.

Our family back in our hometown is quite politically affiliated. Most of us can easily get into a job. However, the commissions have been strictly observing our hometown's records on the hiring, the financing and many more. I don't think it's a good idea to start working there right now. Well, that's how I look at it.

It's okay to feel conflicted about these thoughts. Have you considered talking to someone you trust about these feelings to gain a different perspective?

I haven't really talked to anyone about this. That's why I decided to post it here. I have a feeling that a lot of people here would be able to help me by giving their insights in this kind of thing.

I understand, my own family became toxic. I cut ties with them years ago after efforts to mend fences. Do not return if you're feeling preasured to do so. You need to return, when and if you're ready. You'll find a job, just have patience and faith.

@HaruLoid That's kind of the same thing. I moved away from my hometown, too. As far as I know, my family still have my number, and I remember theirs but neither side try reaching out to the other.

I didn't cut ties with my family but being away from them is my way to be able to mature and completely understand adulthood and responsibility in a whole new level. I'm always being pampered when I'm at our hometown, and, at the same time, people are there to pressure me the whole time and never let me speak up.

It sounds like you're facing a difficult decision about whether to return to your hometown for job opportunities. While your family and partner mean well, the idea makes you feel uneasy and uncomfortable. It's okay to have mixed emotions about this. It seems like being anonymous in the city has its advantages for you, and returning to your hometown brings up feelings of wanting to avoid certain people or situations. It's okay not to have all the answers right now, and it's important to take the time to understand and process your feelings before making any decisions. You're not alone in experiencing these emotions, and it's okay to seek support from those you trust as you navigate this challenging situation.

You're the very first person to tell me this. Usually the people around me would want an immediate decision or answer to my conflicting self. The feeling of not wanting to go back is usually based from a feeling of having the chance to actually get hired in the city where I currently live in. Secondary is the feeling of not wanting to be seen or contacted by the people who know me in our hometown.
