My neighbor's car was broken into.

We don't have a lot of violent crime where I live, and home invasions are rare, but our cars get broken into fairly often. I have also lost a couple of bikes off of my balcony. The other day, my neighbor got his car broken into. They took some clothes an some kind of electronic device. I don't know him well. He's a young dude with a wife and a small child. When they break into my truck, they generally only take my sunglasses. They''re pretty polite out here. In most cases they have not thrown stuff all over my cab. I wonder if my neighbor bothered to file a police report. I don't even bother any more. But I do report it when mail is stolen. Photo is on an unlocked bike at the Library in Lewistown Montana. Things are a bit different up there.

In Italy the police refused to take not if you wanted to report a break into your car. It seems a bit better now than in the past. I would report here, just to let them know that there is someone around they should try to catch.

Can you clarify? In Italy they wouldn't even take a report for awhile?

@TheHorse CORRECT! There were so many cars break ins that they refused to take a report. When they break into our Mercedes in Milan the police refused to file a report. We stopped at the border with France (before going back to Monte Carlo) and asked to the border police to file a report or the insurance would have not covered the damages.

@LadyDuck Did the border police allow you to file a report? Perhaps I would not like to live in Italy. I hope people murder each other less often (per capita) in Italy than they do here.

Where I live, now everyday they steal cars. And I donĀ“t mean open cars to get something that is inside as it used to be. They take it all. For me, now, it is a lot better to take a Uber.

Car theft is pretty common here as well.

Same in my area. I had my car broken into years ago and all they wanted was my rear view mirror. There was a pair of sunglasses and even some money in the dash and they took none of that.

That's a real shame Here getting your car broken into is more like a spectator's sport.

@TheHorse It sounds like thieves there have one thing on their mind and it is to break into cars and see what they can find. Did you have electric bikes? Here they think people from America have money and do not stop to think that maybe they do not. I have a budget where someone likes to bother me and damage not only my stuff but apartments after they forced my scooter and us out and moved out shortly after they did all that damage and lie about it and pretend they want peace. There is no one to turn to for help here because my situation is complicated and people do not understand it. One time something was taken from a Rabbi I knew but it was returned and people are not that polte or nice here. Once they do damage they do not care because they are bullies. The police tell you to to to their web but they do not care or do anything so you are on your own. I have to find someone very strong that will not let go and defeat this thing that will not leave me alone that follows me everywhere. Is that the bike you have now in the picture? Also is your motorcycle safe from the thief?

I do not have a motorcycle, only a bike that I now keep inside. Israel sounds like the US.

@TheHorse How does Israel sound like the U.S.? I thought you had a motorcycle. Sorry about my mistake. Good idea to keep your bike inside from thieving hands.

In Lewistown, but in other areas of Montana things do disappear from your home and yard. I lost stuff in Great Falls and Helena, but nothing too valuable. I don't have to worry about it here in Atascadero, I don't own a car so there is nothing to steal. If I leave anything outside the storage closet, I usually would love to have it taken, and it isn't. We can't put stuff outside with a "FREE" sign on it, it's on our lease. It puts a crimp in plans. I have a bunch of stuff to go to the thrift shop, and I need to make arrangements with a friend of mine to do so. That's in between CT scan and receiving the results. Oh, they did love latching on to motorcycles in Montana. My ex-husband had his taken. The thief didn't get much the man kept dumping the cycle before it was swiped.

@TheHorse He can count me on his list!!! When the snow got deeper than I was tall it was time to come back to California. In reality it was time when my ex-husband told me we were going to Montana. I asked if it was part of the U.S., and he said "YES, and it snows there." I told him I wasn't going, as he dragged me there. I hated every minute there. I don't even want to fly over the state!!! No offense Montanans, I just hated being cold!!!!

@TheHorse I got a closer look at the bike, it's rattle can green, with rattle can pink trim that has blown onto the chain, and red rims. No self respecting California bike thief would steal it...he'd be laughed outta Dodge. Yes, the bike works, but they couldn't get any money for it. The way they named the streets in Great Falls drove me nuts! With 10th Ave S, 11th Ave East and whatever you could get hopelessly lost forever!!! It's a place I was happy to forget!!!

It's been disappointing to hear of quite a lot of car damage around here too. The oldies in our village all joke that in 15 years time all the cute little kids now going to school will be rampaging teenagers.

@JudyEv Are we allowed to scratch our head up among the angels? Will our harps fall out of our hands if we scratch our heads? Inquiring minds...

We don't have our vehicle broken into. But, I had a taillight smashed and a long scratch from one end to the other. The just do nasty things, for some reason. Kids? Probably not.

@TheHorse There were no drivers involved. It was parked and the scratch is along the passenger side. Yes, intentional. The same side(passenger)a broken tail light. It was parked.

I'd be so pissed off if someone stole something from me. BTW, I received an email for Trump knives this time. So they have lighters and knives for sale. Have a good day.
