Short story: A booklover, and book dealer, makes his mark in Heaven

John Arold used to run a very successful secondhand bookshop.
He had to close his shop during the restrictive rules being applied to businesses like his, during the very rigid, and imposing, covid epidemic in his country.
He took most of his books home, and thereafter, he tried to sell some books online, from various selling sites there.
He found though, that sales were bad, due to the hefty postage, and packaging fees, in his country, as well as these online bookselling sites taking a hefty cut off of his sales too.
And when the sales dollars were finally placed in his paypal account, these crooks, (his words) took their commission for their doing this too.
After a few years of trying this method of selling, John gave up in disgust. The Post Office had just hiked postage fees once again, and even the cost of his driving out to the Post office was now exorbitant, due to sky-high petrol costs.
John became deeply depressed, and bored numb, with his now empty life.
John was walking alongside a busy road, trying to at least get a little exercise for himself, when a truck, swerved to one side, when the distracted driver was talking on his cellphone, and so ended John’s life.
John made it into Heaven, but when he came up against one of God’s angels to go over his just completed life with him, John did a bunk, he said God is certainly no book-lover then, but he allowed me to be crucified for selling books, and of trying to make a meagre living in my life there, on his Earth.
Tell God, if there are no books here, I will not stay here either.
John was thereafter given the job of overseer of the books of life, kept by God, one for each soul, and he was allowed to read some of them, especially those that he would later help by helping them to go over their just finished lives with him too.
John was at last happy, back dealing with his beloved love of books, once more again.

God also has a love of books, and a love for everything else good too.

I am sure that anyone who owns a second-hand bookshop, would have books on religion in it, including Bibles.
I think that we are all initially allowed into Heaven, but then we are assessed as to how our just lived life played out, and so consequences will be set for us, based on that determination.

@josie_ Yes, most atheists might get some type of a surprise, if there turns out to be some type of a continuation of some type of life for them too.

@innertalks ~For an atheist, I'm glad to know I might be allowed into heaven. :)

Yes, sadness is only a problem, if we do not have God in our life.
With God, we can realise that even sadness has its part in God's plan for our lives.
Yes, hopefully, we can all find such happiness in Heaven too.

Yes, he lost his hold on happiness in his life on Earth, and was lucky enough to find it again in Heaven, as we might all hope to do, one day too.

Yes, it would be nice, if we could all usefully serve God in a vocation that best matches who we are in the afterlife too.
We all have unique lives to live, both here, and in the hereafter too, I think.

@Shiva49 Yes, if all that we did was to sing songs in the heavenly choir, that might become boring, after the first few days of that.

@innertalks Yes, there should be variety in who we are wherever, otherwise, it would be quite boring even in heaven.
