Yesterday marked our Independence Day celebration. I wasn't around the previous day as I had returned to my home province to visit my father's old school, where they provided me with some mutual aid assistance due to his passing. I traveled by bus Monday night and arrived the following morning, promptly claiming the check and depositing it. Later, I spent a few hours visiting my aunt, whom I hadn't seen in a while. We spent the day catching up and reminiscing about the past. That evening, I prepared for my journey back home, said goodbye to my aunt, and boarded the night bus. I reached home around 5 am, exhausted from the round trip. It was wonderful to reconnect with family and share memories, but the physical toll of the 8-hour journey was definitely felt.

Visiting my aunt and uncle meant a lot to both of us. It had been too long since I had seen them, and we got to catch up on many things. I told them about my children and my job, and they told me about their lives and their new grandchildren. I was also able to tell them about my father’s passing. Since they weren’t able to attend the wake, I felt it was important for me to visit. They were all so welcoming, and before we parted ways they said that they would always welcome us if ever I’d be able to come again. I know that my father would have been happy to know that I had spent time with my aunt and uncle.
