When you are being yourself for a long time and decide to rely on others, instant reality check always hits you. It hits you differently. It so happens when you come across a close circle of people telling you that if you need this and that do call us and at the same time when you hear them saying I don't like helping others.. When money is involved it could not be imagined how it can go worse.
Secondly, when they say we'll discuss together but end up giving you cold shoulders and going no contact despites of contacting them. Here again you realize how stupid you were depending on them, Instant reality check!!
Sometimes a situation slaps you hard and it pushes you out from your comfort zone and makes you explore by yourself.
Thirdly, when you heard them saying they/ he/she wasting the time even for office related matters... you start thinking what if you were with them for some work and delays... this will also conclude what if you too fallen into the category and become the one.

Been there done that, when I tried to get some help to do the cabin &
the people that SAID they would help never showed up, so I'm DONE
asking for help & I'm not offering my help to them as I use to do.

At the end you are at your own. This is the reason why I also never ask help. Sometimes I end up filtering their words what's their actions would say when time comes

Sadly, people don't always respond as they should.

I have always had to depend on myself. My kids do help me some...but I don't count on that, and I don't ask. At least, I haven't yet. I hope I never have to, even though they encourage me to do so if I need to. I do know that I've seen this backfire for people, and it's really hard to go through, I'm sorry.

Been there, done that. Some involved money, some help to complete assignments or learning. I do help others who are good to all. I always return favor then limited helping for those who never cared/helped. I just cut them off from my list. It brings better peace to self
