My dental appointment was better than expected

Today I went to the dentist. It wasn't easy because she worked on three teeth at once. I stayed there for one hour. Before going I was sad because of that dog. But an interesting thing happened. I felt like I was choking while I was on the chair. I made signs and the dentist didn't stop. And I bit the dentist accidentally. I didn't feel I bit her because of anesthesia. But she said that I stung her. Of course, I didn't even realize that I bit her. It was difficult to stay there, but I could do this. The teeth can be saved. I mean a part of them. But the prices are huge. I could calm myself with deep breathing and a huge motivation. I counted different objects, I tried to distract myself. And everything worked and she didn't have to give me breaks. My breath stopped for several moments because I was in an uncomfortable position. But I calmed myself. I think this is a huge progress. My mom prayed a lot for me. She said that her prayers were answered.

Going to the dentist has never bothered me. I even fell asleep once when the hygienist was cleaning my teeth! I had an appointment scheduled a week ago, but the office called me the day before to cancel my appointment because my dentist was sick. So now I have to reschedule for another visit (it's just a routine cleaning).

@dya80dya I've been very blessed with good teeth. I thank my parents for always insisting that my brother and I floss and brush our teeth frequently when we were little. I've never even had any cavities! But I did have my wisdom teeth removed, and one of them was impacted, so it took almost 4 hours of surgery to remove it. I was in a lot of pain with that one, but fortunately it hasn't made me scared of going to the dentist.

Going to the dentist can bring a lot of pain. I think that some people aren't afraid of pain. You are lucky. I wish I could be calm and relaxed. I had complex treatments and tooth removal and they were painful. I think going to the dentist is very uncomfortable.

Yes, she started to scream that I bit her. I just hope that I didn't bite her too hard. It was an accident.

@dya80dya i also remember i accidentally bit one of my male dentists and he was 2meters tall and had a tummy, a strong man. when things reverse, they are acting worse than us, patients. silly. it was an accident, not your fault, she should grow up. i also remember how many times they accidentally, especially women, scratched me with nails and when they put that paper thing, for health reason, underneath our chin, i feel they pulled my hair but i don't say a thing

Good, I am glad you had a positive experience at the dentist. Don't they have any dentists there that work in those with aow income.maybe on a sliding scale or something?

Some dentists have lower fees, but they refuse to receive me because of my panic attacks. I asked four dentists before finding this one.

I'm glad that it went better. That's the one place I refuse to go.

It's uncomfortable, but if we need it what can we do? I had to force myself to go there.

@dya80dya There are just some things I don't do. Going to the doctor or dentist isn't really one of them. My doctor wants me to come in for my anual, but they also want blood work. I have to go to an outside lab to get it done. And, with George not driving, that's easier said than done. Because that'd require a trip to my doctor's office, to get the lab orders. Then a trip to the lab. Then back to the doctor's office a week later for the appoitment only for them to throw a b fit over my numbers.

No one likes dental work. You have to pay them to hurt you and it does not seem fair. They should observe your breathing and make sure that everything is okay. I bet you are glad that is behind you now and you are ready for whatever comes next. Praying for you too.

@dya80dya At least, you can see the end of the tunnel and the light beyond it. I wish you the best with this stuff. I know from experience that it is no fun.

Thank you. It's not behind me because I need other dental appointments. This is just the beginning. But I don't have much work left. I have three other teeth and it will be over. I can't wait till then.

I don't like getting dental work done. I'm glad God took care of this, through prayer!

It's uncomfortable and even painful. But it can save our teeth and we need to go to the dentist.
