You can see what the fashions were like for women in the 1960s. My mother is the lady in the middle and the other two ladies are her best friends Lidia and Irma. Both ladies also came from Latvia. They live in the same apartment building we lived in. I was asked to appear in the photo wearing my ballet costume. This would have been the year 1966 and in 1967 my dad died. He was taking the photo. That year I was ten and my ballet teacher retired and I stopped taking ballet. My mother stopped existing she sat on the same couch with her two friends beside her trying to return her to the world. I remember very little about it all because I was busy with school. Thought I’d share this since I came across it today, Funny it seems to me that all three friends sort of resemble one another. I am sure that now they are all having fun up above.

At one glance I thought they might be sisters and when I read your discussion they weren't but friends. They seems having good time so as having you around them

I know you treasure that photo of you and your mom. Weren't you a cutie! I was a teenager in the 60s and I made a lot of dresses like your mom was wearing.

@1creekgirl actually I loved all things hippie with the hairstyles and jeans and wished I was a teen but my teens were in the 1970s and it was not too bad because it was the age of teen idols

@JudyEv particularly that I know my dad was there taking the photo. Actually he was a lucky guy with three ladies there.

@LindaOHio I remember mom with her nail-spike high-heeled shoes and always wondered how she didn't break a leg. I would clamber in her shoes as a toddler and she always took them away from me

@RasmaSandra I loved the spike heels; but my feet and toes are all screwed up because of them!

Oh yes...the nylons, usually high heels, the pearls, the teased hair and hair spray...that picture is so similar to some I have of the women in my family during that time as well.
You are right, the ladies do actually resemble each other a bit. Ah, memories.
