Day 149 – Journey
Numbers 21:10 Now the children of Israel moved on and camped in Oboth.
11 And they journeyed from Oboth and camped at Ije Abarim, in the wilderness, which is east of Moab, toward the sunrise.
12 From there they moved and camped in the Valley of Zered.
13 From there they moved and camped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that extends from the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Therefore it is said in the Book of the Wars of JEHOVAH: “Waheb in Suphah, the brooks of the Arnon, 15 and the slope of the brooks that reaches to the dwelling of Ar and lies on the border of Moab.”
16 From there they went to Beer, which is the well where JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
17 Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, O well! All of you sing to it— 18 the well the leaders sank, dug by the nation’s nobles, by the lawgiver, with their staves.” From the wilderness they went to Mattanah, 19 from Mattanah to Nahaliel, from Nahaliel to Bamoth, 20 and from Bamoth, in the valley that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah which looks down on the wasteland.
God’s names:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Guide
Provider
When people set out on a journey, they take a map with them to show them the way to their destination. Many people also keep a travel journal about their travels, the places of interest along the way, the cities and towns they visit, and the people they meet.
Moses recorded the places JEHOVAH led them through the wilderness. In one location, JEHOVAH told them He would give them water and the people searched for and found the well as they dug with their shovels and water sprung up. When it did, the people sang for joy.
Your life is a journey. When you allow JEHOVAH to guide you through your journey, you will find many interesting sights. When you use His guidebook, He will lead you through your wilderness. He will give you springs of living water, and supply everything you need for your journey.
Have you consulted your map and allowed JEHOVAH to lead you? Or are you too busy to consult the map and record your journey as you try to make your way through life on your own?
Your journey begins with JEHOVAH. It began with the cross when you gave your life to Yeshuwa. When you study JEHOVAH’S map, His Word, He will lead you in the way you should go to reach your destination, heaven. You cannot make the journey alone. Let Him guide you. He knows the way. He will provide you with wells of living water to refresh your soul. When He does, praise will flow from your lips as you thank Him for the life-giving water.
Let’s pray: Father, I don’t want to travel through this life without You. Let me trust You to guide me and provide me with everything I need for the journey. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
