Building a house

I'm moving next year and my house is being built at the moment. This year I discovered just how many choices you have to make when you build a house instead of buying it. I'm making choices I didn't even know existed! Sometimes I have trouble making decisions. That's why I'm happy I have my fiancée's help. I don't think I could do this on my own. Our next step is deciding how many outlets we want in each room and where we want them. Did you buy an already existing house or did you have it built? Did you find it difficult to make all the different choices?

My husband sold our house. He decided to build a new home. It was been over a year, it's terrible trying to get everything done! We have a hole in the ground and no foundation I want my house back

I'm sorry it's taking so long! I'm lucky to be able to live in my old house for half a year while they continue construction.

I have always bought houses already built. Most people I talk to wind up changing their minds about the decisions they made and always notice things they should have done. That being said, no house built or being built will ever be 100% perfect.

I agree, there will always be things you would have done differently.

My parents built my childhood home from the grount up. There's a prefabercated housing project going on that we drive by sometimes. it's common here. We have building codes that dictate things like how many outlets are allowed and how far apart they need to be per room based on the size of the room. Sure, we have to decide finishes, and kind of windows, but some choices are made for us based on the square footage and number of rooms.

It's definitely true that there are so many more rules to follow these days. But we still have to decide a lot of things for ourselves.

@maclanis Yeah, I know. And, they keep changing. I have no plans to build from the ground up, so I'm not concerned.

Good luck on making all the choices that will make you happy in your new home. We only lived in preexisting-built homes.

I have mostly lived in houses that my husband built. Decisions had to do with what we wanted and with the money we had.

That's also true. We have to keep the budget in mind.

Fortunately we live in the house that was built by my grandpa around a century ago.But now we are planning to renovate it.I know;it's not easy.We will have to hire a engineer.
