One Portion of Memories Please

It’s been kind of a weird week. Tomorrow June 20th marks one year since my best friend from 6th grade on passed away. Every day the thought came to my mind today she would still have been here living beneath me. She was like a sister to me and I miss her but with her declining mental and physical problems the Lord knew to call her home, Just wish it hadn’t happened on the day when in the Latvian calendar is my name Rasma and for us Latvians we have Name’s Days. Guess my friend knew this was one day I wouldn't forget.
Then almost right after this June 23-24 are the Midsummer Festivities in Latvia, Those are good memories of how we celebrated bonfires and songs and dances. If I can handle it I might tune into the Latvian radio online on June 23 and listen to some of the special songs they have for that day.
In the photo, you see my friend Lesley as a teen with my mom dancing in our apartment in NYC. That is how I like to remember them both and I am sure they have met up above.

@LadyDuck on the Latvian calendar it is only our names but can also include two other names on the same day. My name in Latvian means the summer morning dew which is called rasa in Latvian and the derived to Rasma

@porwest this is about 4 years after my dad passed when I was 10, So you see mom has recovered and she was more than glad to let my friends and me hang out in her apartment and listen to music and dance,

How sad to lose your BFF. I lost mine on December 20, 2022. She was like a sister to me too and her family treated me as a part of it. It is sure, not easy. I'm glad I have so many good memories.

@allknowing first thing I said after her passing, We called each other kiddo and I looked up Thanks kiddo for leaving right on my day.

@just4him that is what is the best because it would be sad without memories, Remember how my mom looked in the photo when my dad passed? Well, this is about 4 years later and you can see she recovered,
