Day 154 – Forgiven Numbers 25:1 Now Israel remained in Acacia Grove, and the people began to commit harlotry with the women of Moab. 2 They invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people ate and bowed down to their gods. 3 So Israel was joined to Baal of Peor, and JEHOVAH’S anger was aroused against Israel. 4 Then JEHOVAH said to Moses, “Take the leaders of the people and hang the offenders before JEHOVAH, out in the sun, that the fierce anger of JEHOVAH may turn away from Israel.” 5 Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Every one of you kill his men who were joined to Baal of Peor.” 6 Indeed, one of the children of Israel came and presented to his brethren a Midianite woman in the sight of Moses and in the sight of the congregation of the children of Israel, who were weeping at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. 7 Now when Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose from among the congregation and took a javelin in his hand; 8 and he went after the man of Israel into the tent and thrust both through, the man of Israel, and the woman through her body. The plague was stopped among the children of Israel. 9 Twenty-four thousand died in the plague. 10 Then JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 11 “Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, turned back My wrath from the children of Israel, because he was zealous with My zeal among them, so that I did not consume the children of Israel in My zeal. 12 Therefore say, ‘Behold, I give to him My covenant of peace; 13 and it will be to him and his descendants after him a covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made atonement for the children of Israel.’” 14 Now the name of the Israelite who was killed with the Midianite woman, was Zimri the son of Salu, a leader of a father’s house among the Simeonites. 15 The name of the Midianite woman who was killed was Cozbi the daughter of Zur; he was head of the people of a father’s house in Midian. 16 Then JEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, 17 “Harass the Midianites, and attack them; 18 "for they harassed you with their schemes by which they seduced you in the matter of Peor and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a leader of Midian, their sister, who was killed in the day of the plague because of Peor.” God’s names: JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal Yeshuwa – Jesus Theos – Supreme Divinity Christos – Anointed One, Messiah Iesous – Jesus Kurios – Supreme Authority, Master, Lord Elohiym – Supreme God God’s character: Judge We live in a world that kills people in the name of their god. There is little difference between the world today and the world of ancient times. The children of Israel started to disobey JEHOVAH’S first commandment, not to have any gods other than Him. Exodus 20:3 “You will have no other gods before Me. 4 "You will not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or in the water under the earth; 5 you will not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, JEHOVAH your Elohiym, am a jealous Elohiym, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, who love Me and keep My commandments. JEHOVAH told Moses to kill the heads of the tribes of Israel because they disobeyed Him and sacrificed to other gods. Then sent a plague among the people. Phineas stood against the people who disobeyed JEHOVAH and killed an Israelite man and Midianite woman. When he did, JEHOVAH stopped the plague and told Moses Phineas would have His covenant of peace on his life and for his descendants He gave them an everlasting priesthood. What would the world be like today if everyone obeyed the Ten Commandments and served JEHOVAH alone? What would your life be like if you obeyed the Ten Commandments? People call themselves Christians. They go to church, even read their Bibles on occasion, and outwardly look like good Christian people. Yet behind closed doors they live different lives. People even follow their outward examples until their disobedient lifestyles come to light and their idols topple from their pedestals. No one is perfect. Everyone sins. What do you do? If you accepted JEHOVAH’S Son as your Savior and Lord, you started your life over with JEHOVAH as the focus of your life. Yeshuwa’s death and resurrection gave you a way to atone for your sin by confessing your sin so JEHOVAH could forgive you. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos, Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios. 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV) JEHOVAH is faithful to forgive you when you confess your sin to Him and not impute your sin against you, giving you life instead of eternal separation from Him in Hell. What do you need to do today to turn JEHOVAH’S wrath away from you and bring you into right standing with Him? Confess your sin and He will forgive you and give you His covenant of peace as He did to Phineas. Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner and deserve eternal separation from You. I confess my sin and ask Your forgiveness as You promised in Your Word. Let Your covenant of peace rest on me as I commit to live my life only for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. I know a lot of people who call themselves Christians and go to church every Sunday but lead sinful lives. Have a blessed day.

The idea that other Gods might exist seems foreign to me, as only God can exist to me. All other Gods must be imposters, and should not be given any credence in our lives.
