It's The First Day of Summer and Boy Is It Hot

United States

Happy Thursday Everyone! I'm going to sound like a broken record when I say it's HOT. Guess I'm dating myself with the broken record comment The heat wave continues and it's just gross outside. Even the lawn crew didn't show up this morning. I'm missing having my coffee outside in the morning Meanwhile, I have plenty to do inside today. After that, I am determined to finish my book. I'm down to the last 50 pages and can't wait to see how all the loose ends get tied up. My Aunt called earlier this morning with a book recommendation and she always gives me good ideas. That will be my next book after I finish this one. Now I'm going to see what's going on here today and catch up on my notifications.

What book are you reading? It isn't as hot here as it is going to be in the coming days

Identity by Nora Roberts. It's page turner and recommended by fellow myLotter @JordanLader

@Marilynda1225 That sounds like a good read. I am reading a Prime freebie right now, forgot the name, but next in line I think is Broken Bayou. Identiy and Mindgames I will have to look for in the online library.

@Marilynda1225 I'm reading Mindgames now. So far so good. If y'all find time I would definitely recommend the Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Very very good book

I'm guessing it was even too hot for the lawn crew. It's best to stay inside when it's that hot. Enjoy your book. I'm working on mine.

I finished my book and was sorry it ended. I doubt there will be a sequel but the way it ended there could be. Glad you found time to work on your book today

@just4him I'm glad you wrote the sequel to Thread of Evidence. I enjoyed both books.

@Marilynda1225 I've read some that I wished had a sequel to and didn't. Thread of Evidence almost didn't have a sequel, but people demanded it, so I complied.

I can understand about the heat thing. We're not fairing much better here. George loves it though.

Now that I'm older I don't tolerate the heat as well as I did when I was younger.

It's cooler here today, it's not supposed to get over 88f today but the humidity is higher than usual, right now it's 76f with 61% which is way high for this desert. This also means the desert will be greener than usual, plants here know how to soak in the humidity

If we're lucky tomorrow shouldn't go over 90f but the weekend will see 101f again. I'm just glad we don't get the high heat with the humidity like you probably do, I probably couldn't breath in that.

It is terribly hot and humid here today also. I had to turn the oven on a little while ago, which I would have rather not. But my husband texted me asking for chicken and ribs, which he rarely makes requests. I didn't have enough warning to use the slow cooker, so the oven is on. I feel sad today. I was reading the obituary section from the newspaper from the area that we used to live in. My old dear friend from grade school, Debbie, passed away. I feel so sad just knowing that we were so close and she and I used to have so much fun at sleep overs and playing on the school yard during recess, and now she is gone. I sent a private message to her younger sister. They were raised by their grandmother after their father passed away and their mother abandoned them. But still so full of happiness and fun.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend Debbie. I can understand that would be sad hearing of her passing. I'm sure her sister appreciated your message. What wonderful memories you have of all the fun times you shared.

We probably won't see any rain for a few days. Glad your rain helped make the temperatures bearable.

I hadn't thought about the 'broken record' but you're quite right. I'm sure there are other phrases that now mean little to younger people.

They probably don't understand phrases from our time and I have a hard time understanding some of the lingo they use when they talk.

I need to start reading again. I will be ordering a page magnifier since the print on the books I have is too small for me anymore. Stay cool and hydrated and have a good day.

Those page magnifiers are handy. I have one and it's a blessing for a book with small print. Lately I've been downloading books more since I can adjust the font. Otherwise I try to get the book in a large print edition.

Between the frigid cold winters and the heat of the summer I do feel bad for anyone who has to work outside. I finished my book and now it's time to pick a new one to read.

I didn't even notice it was summer today, because the weather is not giving off summer vibes at all here... We're even expecting a bit of rain in an hour.

@Marilynda1225 That is a good idea, but remember too much water is not very good for your kidneys
