Bear enters a home in California while the owner was washing his dishes

Bear entering a home in Sierra Madre California

Jason Wightman who resides in Sierra Madre California was busying washing his dishes on Tuesday when a bear entered his home while Jason was washing the dishes. Jason did admit that he was surprised that a bear entered his home. The good part is that the bear did leave Jason's house without anyone getting hurt. It appears that the bear went inside of Jason's home since the bear was hungry and since the homes of the bears are being taken away from them in the name of progress, the bear saw his or her chance to get a free meal but due to Jason telling the bear to go away, the bear left the home empty handed. I would have been surprised but if the bear was calm I would have given it some food and asked if it would like to dry the dishes,

Years ago, we had a bear try to break into the cabin we were staying in during a week at Glacier Park. There was another cabin nearby, and some of our family was in that cabin. We had walkie-talkies to talk to each other (cell phones are not the greatest at Glacier Park!) We reached them via walkie-talkie, and they scared it off by sneaking out to their truck and driving the very short distance to our cabin, and honked the entire time, bright lights, etc. plus my brother in law was hanging out the window clanging metal pot lids together and screeching. That bear was terrified and ran off, no more problems. However, no one slept the rest of the night!

@Deepizzaguy Especially when it’s trying to claw the door open, and you and your family are behind the door!

@MarieCoyle That is really scary since I have to deal with a cat scratching the bedroom door trying to get in or leave when I am trying to rest.

I'm glad the bear left when Jason told him/her to.

Wow, I am not sure how exactly I would react if a bear came into our home. Glad no one was hurt and the bear left of her own free will

Jason is lucky that the bear left without incident. I wonder how it got in.

I wish bears were friendly like dogs. And I mean friendly like Golden Retrievers.

It might not be a wise move to feed the bear either, as he might then be back again every night for a free feed.

You are right that feeding bears is looking for trouble.

There must be a lot of similar incidents in that area for the man to be able to casually shoo the bear off. People and bears seem to have a live and let live attitude towards each other. It's certain to happen once people start encroaching on the bear's natural habitat. Good to know the confrontation didn't turn violent.

You are right that humans have been trying to take away the homes of the bears.

I would have gone to the frig and gave me some leftovers...I only keep them 3 days...he would be welcome to have them. Always stay calm.

That is what I have learned about dealing with bears is to remain calm.
