How long does it take you to fall asleep at night? For me, it takes a while at least 20 minutes most evenings unless I'm stressing over something. Once I'm asleep though, I usually won't wake up till early morning, around 6:30-7 am when "nature calls." I usually get 8 hours of sleep. Sometimes I'll take a nap. So, how about you? How would you respond to these questions: 1. Do you have trouble falling asleep? 2. Are you a sound sleeper? 3. Do you wake up during the evening to use the bathroom? 4. Do you take naps? 5. Is there anything you do to help induce sleep? ***While you ponder those questions here are some interesting sleep facts: - Elephants sleep less than any other animal. They sleep only 3 hours, and their REM (dream sleep) occurs only every 3-4 days. -Humans usually have between four to six dreams a night. If you think you don’t dream each night, it's likely it just means you’ve forgotten your dreams by the time you wake. -We are the only mammals that willingly delay sleep. Let's see ......... Yes, Yes, Yes, Maybe, Yes ....... I found my solution though, I watch TV at night which puts me to sleep eventually. If not for the TV my silly brain would go over all the mistakes I'd made in the past then start thinkin 'I shoulda......' and boy is that annoyin

I think one of the biggest causes of having trouble falling asleep or getting back to sleep is when you're fretting about something. I agree it is really frustrating when that happens... MORE SLEEP TRIVIA -There’s evidence that pets, and even insects, can experience insomnia.

I have a tremendous problem falling asleep. I stay up all night every night. Sometimes I will go 48 hours without sleep. Then I might conk out for an hour or two. I would love to take naps; but I can't just fall asleep. Have a good weekend.

If I take my sleep medicine (I do twice a week) it takes me 20 minutes to fall asleep, but if I take no medicine it takes an hour. I never get up to use the bathroom in the night unless I am sick, and I sleep until morning, uninterrupted, only on the nights I took the sleeping medicine. No medication? I wake up three times a night. I average five hours of sleep with medication, and three hours without. The longest I’ve ever been awake is four days, and that was one of the most miserable experiences of my life.

Thanks goodness you have your medication to get a good night's sleep! Wow! Four days that must have been awful. I remember when I had wisdom tooth surgery, and I was so uncomfortable I just could not sleep at all. It really messes with your brain not sleeping when it's time too. @dgobucks226 That makes perfect sense about English bulldogs. I never would have guessed, but it certainly makes sense.

Like George Jones sang, I sleep just like a baby…I wake up every hour and cry. I’m a pretty sound sleeper, yes. I don’t usually go to sleep (or “turn down” for the night) until about 2 AM. I may wake up to use the bathroom, depending on how much I drank at dinner. And YES, I take naps!! I would say it’s a perk of retirement and old age, but I took naps in my 20s.

And with Tammy (sleeping) I mean standing by her man when he did sleep, I'm sure he had sweet dreams. Wow! You are a bit of a night owl. No wonder you need those naps, lol. MORE SLEEP TRIVIA -One of our biggest sleep distractions is 24-hour internet access.

Hmm, interesting, usually before going to bed I always do light exercise and consume a little milk, then I also do the breathing that soldiers usually do before going to sleep.

I've tried counting breaths. It can help with relaxation. They say not to exercise before bedtime for it could wind you up making it harder to relax come bedtime. MORE SLEEP TRIVIA -One of our biggest sleep distractions is 24-hour internet access.

Most times, I get a clean sleep of 7 hours. However, there are times I do not get the same continuous hours of sleep. Perhaps it could be because of naps late evening or spicy food in night or other unknown reasons. I take 20-40 minutes to get into sleep mode. A clean sleep of 7 plus hours usually helps one to be fresh and ready for the things. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

You welcome and thanks for commenting. I agree that naps can mess with one's sleep cycle. They do say eating late at night can be a factor in trying to get a restful sleep. MORE SLEEP TRIVIA-DID YOU KNOW -One of our biggest sleep distractions is 24-hour internet access.
