Is Pastor Bob Joyce Elvis Presley?

Sometimes on the Internet, especially with YouTube, you land on something and just fall right down the rabbit hole despite your best efforts. Take Pastor Bob Joyce who preaches at a small church in Benton, Arkansas. Many people believe he is Elvis Presley who reportedly came out of the witness protection program in 2011. Around the same time Bob Joyce seemed to sort of come out of nowhere, according to the conspiracy theorists. He does have some of Presley's mannerisms, and certainly he talks like him and definitely sings like him. In fact, his son Matt is an Elvis impersonator, go figure. I don't think he particularly looks like Elvis, but there are some resemblances, and of course the conspiracy theorists will argue he had a lot of plastic surgery to alter his appearance. Elvis would be 89 if he had lived, born in 1935. Bob Joyce was apparently born in 1952. He married his wife two years before Elvis died in 1977. Personally, I don't believe Joyce is actually Elvis. But it is fun to think of the real legacy that would have been left if he had faked his death, and when he got out of witness protection, he ditched the money and fame to live a simple life and preach the Word of God, just enjoying life. You decide. Is this Elvis Presley?

Well the Pastor himself has confirmed he is not Mr Presley, I agree that he is not.

@LadyDuck Yeah. That's what he says. And now suddenly he's got a bigger, brand new church, he's selling more CDs, has more attendees than ever before to his church. I mean, I can't blame him. But let's be real here. Of COURSE it's about the money to SOME extent.

@porwest CORRECT! This is exactly how the saying goes. If someone offers to do something easy for money I always consider if it's worth doing.

It must be an Arkansas thing. My husband is from there and he had an Elvis look going when I met him.

lol. My wife told me once she thought I kind of looked like Ethan Hawke. I told her to have her glasses checked.

@porwest I didn't think you would remember anything about him. Probably not.

@porwest It's hard not to know about him. At least from my point of view. I've always been an Elvis fan.

Me either. It's a fun little story, though, and with all the "coincidences" around this one, it makes it particularly more fun to sort of entertain the idea of it.

No, it's not Elvis; but it's an interesting theory. Have a good day.

I have to admit, when you listen to the theorists, there ARE a lot of coincidences. But when it comes to conspiracy theories, there usually are.
