Do you have good hearing?

I took a hearing test online a couple of years ago. I am "toast" when it comes to anything above 13 kHz. And I struggle to hear conversation in a "loud room."
But I could tell this morning that I had put the bacon on a slightly higher setting than usual. Was it a "Senior Moment? Had I put the burner on high, as I have done once or twice? I thought "no."
I was right. I had put it on the high side of Medium, rather than the low side of Medium.
I flipped the bacon and just gobbled it up. I am out of eggs.
It was good.
How is your hearing? Are there situations (like noisy rooms) where you struggle?

@AmbiePam That is exactly what I was thinking. They do say that is a thing.

I'm 72 years. Recently I have checked my hearing power through an video in Facebook and WhatsApp, I can hear up 62 number. I don't know what is the criteria for that number. Daily I'm listening devotional songs for 3 Hours, Pravachana and listening old Hindi film songs while I'm on walking. I'm comfortable in listening at standard voice.

My hearing is sharper than most due to my blindness, but I can tune out sounds when I need or want to. I can also get overwhelmed at times and struggle. Most of the time it's when the t.v. is loud, and George's trying to talk to me. Part of that is when he strugg;es to tell me what he wants.

@TheHorse I use Voiceover for Mac. Or, if I'm on windows I use Jaws.

I am happy to say that me and my cats have excellent hearing. The cats pick up even the quietest sounds and I can hear a meow at my PC from the front room if I am being summoned,

@TheHorse Actually it can be rather funny, There I am stiing watching a DVD on my PC and suddenly a meow reaches my ears and I am wondering why I am hearing this meow and then realize I am being summoned to the other room or the kitchen

I've been losing my hearing for many years (along with my memory, lol) It's very difficult to catch what people are saying unless they're facing me.

@TheHorse I depend on closed captions on TV. It's hilarious what they read sometimes. But loss of hearing can be so isolating in social settings.

@1creekgirl It can be. I struggle with dialogue on TV too. But my friends (with whom I watch movies on TV) don't know sh*t about good fidelity.

My hearing is absolutely fine. This is a problem for me as I seem to be surrounded by people with terrible hearing! I struggle in noisy places because I can't filter noises very well. I was sitting outside a pub with my husband a couple of nights ago, and there was a TV on. There were two other TVs inside the pub. When my husband asked if I wanted to stay for another drink, I had to decline because the TV was hurting my ears. Husband, on the other hand, said it wasn't bothering him because he could block it out.
My job often involves talking to older people... many of whom appear to need hearing aids but choose not to bother with them. This means I spend a considerable amount of time having to shout down the phone at people. I also know many people in real life who are going deaf. I will be accused of being loud and told to be quiet regularly... by people who can't hear me (or are just not listening, I don't know) when I speak normally!

I must have supersonic hearing because I can hear people talking outside, even across the street but my windows and door are closed...

It used to be great. I think it isn't as good as it used to be. I have trouble when people mumble or don't enunciate clearly.

Heh. Crowded rooms kill me. I hate bars. But I am NOT as deaf as those blasted dudes I hang around with. I hear one ask a question of another (relevant to our band). I look at the other. Clueless. Let me hang out with some 40-something Spring Chickens!

I have bat ears. I have very sensitive hearing in spite of my tinnitus. Have a good day. Love the "poster".

I have great hearing because I can't see for crap. It sucks too, all you end up saying is stop talking crap about me. You end up with a thick skin, so I guess that is something.

I have hearing aids, if that tells you anything. To paraphrase Jimmy Buffett, I’m losing my hearing but I don’t care what most people say.

I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and most of the time I am able to mentally block it out but not always. It never goes away. After years of mowing, I noticed I have some trouble with certain tones.
Because of my up bringing, parents yelling constantly, when someone talks loudly it hurts my ears. One doctor called it being noise sensitive.
