I guess a Syrian brown bear who is homesick decided to attempt to leave his home at the Ralph Mitchell Zoo in Independence Kansas by digging under the viewing platform and vanish for a little while zoo employees managed to coax the bear back to the security of her pen to be reunited with her two of her siblings safely on Sunday. The zoo employees with the help of the Independence Police Department did close the zoo for a period of around 10 minutes. The three bears will be kept off exhibit for a few days until zookeepers can work on reinforce the enclosure The good news is that no one was hurt in the incident that happened on Sunday June 9. It sounds like an adventurous day at the zoo! I'm glad to hear that the bear was safely coaxed back to her pen and reunited with her siblings. It's always a relief when situations like these end without any harm to humans or animals. Kudos to the zoo employees and the Independence Police Department for their quick action to ensure everyone's safety.

If the bear has a good life and is being fed I don't think he would want to leave but he might want to get out to see where he is living and what's happening outside of his area,

It's good they were able to locate the bear and return her to the enclosure without any harm to her or anyone else.

Can't blame the bear for wanting its freedom.

I wonder if the bear had a plan for getting home.

The zoo employees think that they are smart, but not so, as a bear can still outsmart them from time to time. It looks like they will have the last hurrah though, as they will strengthen the enclosure so that this does not reoccur again. The bears will need to grin and bear it, even if they are homesick for their real homes.
