Even Small Towns Are Not Safe

You know I get a lot of opinions during the weeks while I work online. Those who say go out more, find company, take a look around your neighborhood, and those who say you’re right about keeping yourself safe and secure. Well, all I know is that if people in a small town in Arkansas cannot be safe going to a local store called The Mad Butcher which no one else ever heard about, and still being shot at then thank you, very much for all opinions but if you don’t mind no one wants to shoot me in my apartment and all I have to deal with are two loving cats. You can take a look at what happened by clicking on the link. In summary, 3 people are dead and 10 injured. Doing nothing more than going shopping in their town in Arkansas. During the shooting, people hid in a freezer. Afterward, two police officers were wounded as well as the worthless human being doing the shooting, a 44-year-old man named Travis Jean Posey. Unfortunately, in this case, he did not think of shooting himself.

I don't delude myself into thinking anywhere is "safe". Especially here in America. You know, he'll spend time in jail. And, that'll pretty much be the end of it as far as the world's concerned. Lawmakers aren't going to do jack about it, despite saying they will.

@kaylachan I agree with you that is why I think it would have been better if he did like other shooters and just shoot himself.

I do feel fairly safe where I live. But bad things happen everywhere, no one is totally safe, ever. No matter what, and yes, these things do often happen in small towns or rural areas, as well as big cities. I am glad you feel safe where you are.

@MarieCoyle of course, mostly inside than outside. Gues what is my hometown? NYC and if I lived there now you can bet I would never take the subways ever I would take the crosstown busses,

@RasmaSandra I was born in Chicago. I don't really feel safe there anymore when I visit. At one time, I used to drive there myself, and do what I came to do...but now, I feel it is better that if I have to go there, I go with someone else. I can take the Amtrak, but then it involves public transportation, a taxi or Uber, etc. Luckily, I do not have to travel there often. I still enjoy seeing it all, but it's just not my thing anymore.

Your safety and peace of mind are top priorities, and it's perfectly valid to prioritize them. It's truly tragic what happened in Arkansas, and it's a reminder of the importance of feeling secure in your own home. Take care, and enjoy the company of your loving cats!

I cannot read this link, just the post sends shivers down my spine. The crime, the hatred motivated crime, in our society today is so awful. When you think about all of the new information coming to us about the galaxies and beyond, and then you consider that we on this little planet cannot get along, it is mind boggling.

@RasmaSandra No we aren't, Dorothy was right. But when you consider the vastness to everything, the prospect of finding another galaxy why are we on this little planet so unable to get along? We are so irrelevant in the grand scheme when you think of it on that level.

@Juliaacv I have to agree with you. Imagine people so scared they hid in a freezer and one woman's small son started crying and she had to calm him down because she thought they would be heard and then also shot. SIGH As Dorothy said I don't think we're in Kansas anymore

No-one should be advising you on how to live your life. As long as you're happy (more or less) with your circumstances, that's all that matters.

@JudyEv just some days I do wish I could feel free one of the things that bother me is the more I stay inside where I feel good the less I want to go out, Meaning it is not good to have to feel anxious just walking two blocks to the convenience store but when I did go and it takes my only about half an hour I felt the anxiety rising as I walked along, I need to get more control over myself or I'll never see the outside again,

@RasmaSandra I can understand this. I often try to dodge going out although I'm okay once I get going. I think if I was on my own, I would probably only go out when I had to.

I heard about that, & those that talk trash about what's going on isn't happening is completely out of their minds & avoiding what is going on cause it's true & don't want to admit it, our town in Indiana would be at risk if something like that happened.
