Congress is considering requiring women to register for the draft

For real. The proposed policy is included in the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act. That legislation was cleared by a Senate committee which is currently controlled by the GOP. Some moderates like Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, and Lisa Murkowski are supporting the bill. Far right members of Congress like Josh Hawley are decrying it saying that it is part of the "woke" agenda. In any case it is said that the bill doesn't have much of a chance of passing as is. I don't know what I think about this since the first time I am hearing about this idea is this morning. I know that women in Israel are forced to serve in the military just like men. Their military is widely seen as very effective and very strong. What do you think about women in the draft?
