Are There Different Rules

United States

Last week I got my food card from my health insurance. So I went to Walmart and used it I had to pay extra 20.00 and I got most of the stuff the card said I could get. Well, yesterday I went to Dollar General. I got way more stuff, and only had to pay $1.07 cents for a buggy full, I hate to think, I got ripped off at Walmart, but sure looking that way.

I think it's partly up to each store what they allow.

Actually there are laws/guidelines specifying what can and cannot be bought. Any store accepting the card has to abide by them.

Apparently.

It is not easy to determine without the receipts showing what you bought. I'd say you likely bought several things at Walmart not covered for purchase by the card. A 'food card' does not cover all food.

I thoroughly check my receipts. Walmart is always making mistakes.

Walmart was probably just following the rules for the card. I don't know what you bought; so I don't know. Have a good day.

It's the store and the card. It's the same with an HSA card as well

It does sound like you did much better at Dollar General than Walmart.

I really did. I won't use it at Walmart again.
